People love their pets. Be it a cat, dog, hamster or goldfish, most U.S. residents have some kind of non-humanoid companion sharing their home. According to a survey by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association (APPMA), however, cats win hands down when it comes to the sheer numbers that reside in American abodes.
The facts about cats confirm there are over 73 million in houses throughout the country, as opposed to 68 million dogs. Although many
dog owners would disagree, that means cats are the
preferred pets among the four-legged furry variety.
Ken Hubbard is an antiques dealer with the company
2wice As Nice in Wheat Ridge, Colo., a suburb of
Denver. Hes also the owner of two black American shorthairs, Lace and Bear.
Cats can be fun, intuitive and loving. But
they can also have an evil side, Hubbard chuckles. They have their routines and they can be very demanding. Mine will torment me in the morning until they get me out of bed, with lots of stalking around the room and covers and a lot of meowing.
If youre a cat lover youve certainly experienced both sides of the coin. For your reading pleasure, weve pulled together a handful of interesting facts about cats.

My cats are also particular about drinking water. One wants it out of the tap, another wants the sink filled, a third takes it out of a cup on the bathroom counter. There is a benefit to standing there for five minutes brushing my teeth, waiting for them all to do their thing. My dentist is most impressed with my lack of placque.

52% of cat owners own more than one cat ...There you go! Also, babies like cats.
Little-box-neglect is characteristic of teenagers. Sometimes it gets bad enough that the catz go on the bathroom floor.
We currently have Batty Pat, just turned 11, on box-duty.

Our cat, Brutus, drinks milk IF it is Stonyfield Organic Milk. Otherwise, not so much. (If milk keeps increasing in price - ugh!) - It’s real cold here. She got outside today and now won’t come when I call her; it’s getting colder now that night is upon us

I have an old male tabby that does the same thing. He’s nearly 14 years old. He also makes a dig/covering motion with his front paws on either side of his food dish after I put dry food in it. I guess he thinks he’s out in the woods covering it up to come back later. Call of the Wild I guess.

I had 2 wonderful cats. One hated people the other loved them. When someone came over’ one cat wanted to rub against her leg while the other tried to take it off.

This is Morgan. Do not look directly into his eyes and you may be safe. He is a very good cat and leaves no bug, mouse or mole alive! I adore him!

to be sure you end up with a really brave attack-cat, you have to start training them from very young...

Cats can use pet doors.
Oh, this one brings back memories. I put in a cat door in my cabin in Colorado. My wife's humongous black cat Baby tried to use it and squeegeed his fur and fat into a wedge that stopped him mid-midriff. I couldn't help but laugh, but ol' Baby was P.O.'d at me for weeks after that one.

Use steel, or glass bowls only. Plastic retains oders over time. My cat did the same. If your already not using plastic. Your cat is crazy. ;)

Your cat is crazy. ;) Quirky, just quirky wife and I tell friends :)
We have 2 plastics, one a flowing fountain type thing and a stainless, she does the same with all.
The other 4 cats really like the flowing fountain thing, it entertains them.

That's why we bought the *Flowing Fountain* cat water dish after seeing them with a dripping kitchen sink.
Some smart clown probably saw that habit with cats, put two and two together and made decent coin from that idea.

We had a big male Maine Coon outside cat when I was a kid, in the summer he would put his front paws in the big water dish outside while he drank.
If it was really hot he would stay there with his paws in the water for 1/2 hour or so, smart cat.

All our cats yell at me and only me.
We had a bipolar cat that would kill squirrels and gnaw off their tails to collect them. After we had it killed by the vet, we found the tails around its house.
