I'm a 20th century man but I don't want to be here.

Posted on 11/24/2012 8:11:00 PM PST by Zeneta

This is the age of machinery, A mechanical nightmare, The wonderful world of technology, Napalm, hydrogen bombs, biological warfare,

This is the twentieth century, But too much aggravation It's the age of insanity, What has become of the green pleasant fields of Jerusalem.

Ain't got no ambition, I'm just disillusioned I'm a twentieth century man but I don't wanna be here. My mama said she can't understand me She can't see my motivation Just give me some security, I'm a paranoid schizoid product of the twentieth century.

You keep all your smart modern writers Give me William Shakespeare You keep all your smart modern painters I'll take Rembrandt, Titian, Da Vinci and Gainsborough,

Girl we gotta get out of here We gotta find a solution I'm a twentieth century man but I don't want to die here.

I was born in a welfare state Ruled by bureaucracy Controlled by civil servants And people dressed in grey Got no privacy, got no liberty Cos the twentieth century people Took it all away from me.

Don't wanna get myself shot down By some trigger happy policeman, Gotta keep a hold on my sanity I'm a twentieth century man but I don't wanna die here.

Well, one thing the 20th Century is superior to this one is in that century, we put a man on the Moon. If we had yo get to the Moon right away, we don't have that ability anymore, in some ways, what we had in 1970 is ahead of us today.

Forget putting a man on the moon! We can't even put a man in orbit or fetch him back from there. We have to rely on the Russians to ferry our astronauts back and forth from the ISS.

But who cares anything about that as ;long as we have out EBT cards and Obamaphones.

Sheesh. What a miserable excuse for a country we have become.

You’re right. If we brought a person up from 1970, he or she woulds be appalled. We give out free Obamaphones and can surf for porn online yet we can’t send a man to the Moon or even to orbit. Relying on the Soviets/Russians, I think we’d give our poor time traveller form 1970 a stroke. B-P

I would have been better suited for an 80 year lifespan of 1760 to 1840 in America.

if you lived that long...Ricketts, malaria, cholera, yellow fever, tuberculosis, typhoid, Dysentary...

And if you are a woman: a baby every year from the date of marriage until you either die of childbirth (one in four women) or go through menopause.

Ah yes, the good old days.

Eighty years was chosen to represent a period of history, but people did live that long back then.

Benjamin Franklin didn’t even leave office until he was 82 and he was born in 1706.

President Madison’s life spanned from 1751 to 1836, closely matching my choice of 1760 to 1840.

Your description makes it sound like life wasn’t worth living until your time.
