What are your three favorite comedy movies?
I thought “The Princess Bride” was a really good movie.
It was not so much funny as amusing to me. Maybe clever is a better word than amusing.
The Gods Must be Crazy
Great Race
A Shot in the Dark
I am a maniac plagiarist inspired here today by a distant acquaintance who reported laughing his ass off watching another cynical exploitation tearjerker about some war catastrophe, that he said was full of historical lies and manipulative propaganda. Another maniac who wouldn’t buy the agitprop bullshit of the hateful communists that produce such trash. And in any event and always, it’s only a movie.
Lost in America - Albert Brooks & Julie Hagerty
Fatso - Dom DeLuise & Anne Bancroft
The Russians Are Coming IS the funniest EVER. It is twice as funny if you happen to know Russian (which I was raised with). Arkin’s Russian accent is impeccable and adds to the non-stop humour. You had to grow up during the cold war to really appreciate the high strung tension between Americans and the Russians that unintentionally invade Glaugh-Chester Island.
Well, maniac was pretty strong.
I used the term in reference to your willingness to rattle the cage and take the clawing to follow.
As I say I always appreciate your comments.
I have yet to see a Spielberg or for that matter Ron Howard film that I didn’t react to in the same manner as your friend. Of course I think I gave up in nausea after viewing Close Encounters some 35 years ago...indeed that was the first time I really realized how out of step I was with the growing, weeping, maudlin masses of the U.S.
183 posts and no one has mentioned “Nacho Libre.”
Extremely funny movie, with the bonus of being clean. Unless you consider Nacho tightening his gluteous maximus while clad in tights, salacious.
It is a sweet and really funny film.
Also, every Pink Panther movie - all classics.
were no angels in my top 8
“Chancho, when you are a man, sometimes you wear stretchy pants in your room. It’s for fun.”
I couldn’t possibly name just three. I remember one called “Middle Age Crazy” with Bruce Dern that I thought was funny. I can’t seem to find it on DVD.
