You are so very right.
I think it was Jules Verne that read dozens of publications every day.
This is and was an exercise in extrapolating possibilities.
I’ve held for some time now, that if it “can” happen, it will.

Yes. I’ve read Ringworld, and unfortunately, no movies yet. Not that a flick could do justice.

Dune: great book, lousy movie. Maybe someone should take Dune and make it a trilogy.

I have no idea why people list bladerunner. Saw original, in 82 snoozer, then the directors cut came out, went to hollywood to watch that, because certainly it had to be better.... Ummmmm Nope. The only thing I can think of is that there is another movie out there called bladerunner that is this classic tale.... I just keep seeing the bad one. <<
Ditto. To this day I don't know why people claim this is a "sci-fi classic". It seemed like an incoherent mess with Harrison Ford to me. They claimed the "Director's Cut" was better because it removed the "unnecessary voiceover", but that made the movie even MORE incoherent. I've tried to watch it twice now and found the movie boring and annoying.
Another recent addition to my "why the hell did this get such rave reviews" in 2006's "Children of Men". For a sci-fi story, I give it a 2/10. Interesting premise, horribly executed.

i was looking forward to it but unfortunately i don’t think he did as well as he should have. disappointing given the caliber of Scott and how well he did Alien. for example after the gal had the gut surgery, there’s no way she could have been able to move so well and so fast with a few grimaces thrown in here and there, anesthetics or not. muscles do not just work 100% normal when lasered in half and your skin is stapled back together.
all this did was set up another prequel sequel. no big questions answered or even attempted to be answered. and the whole movie spent an awful long time targeting the one crewperson who had a small amount of faith into giving it up - visually, and verbally.

and as i said he isn’t going to do remakes. he’s doing prequels to fill in the story of where the aliens came from and the mystery of the pilot alien from the first movie of the storyline, that he directed. he’s doing backstory. and he’s left himself room to do another sequel prequel.
