I am ‘going Galt’ until this passes. My small business will not be hiring anyone new. No more donations to anyone for anything. All purchases will be kept to the absolute minimum (even a coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts). Saving money is the only thing I care about. No more talk radio. All MSM television and cable news (even Fox) has been channel blocked. I have unsubscribed from all promotional emails no matter who they are from (even Conservatives and certainly DickMorris.com and the RNC); and when I am asked why, I write in ‘Obama was re-elected.’ For those of you who disapprove, try it. I feel better already and, honestly, there is no other way to fight back at the moment.

While I get what you are doing and support it, it is not nearly “gong Galt”. That means shutting down all financial contribution to the government. You must shut down your business completely to even start towards that.

Why not just add a “Me, too!” on one of the previous hundred or so “Going Galt” vanities? Maybe FR could add a “Galt Forum” and an “Expatriate Forum,” until everyone gets it out of their systems.

Excellent idea. Cutting out expensive coffee is going to send a powerful message!

You need to re-read Atlas Shrugged. “Going Galt” means closing the doors on your business and walking away. By not hiring more employees, I suspect that you are just going to keep piling more work on the employees you currently have. That isn’t noble. That’s just using the election to exploit your workers.

I like the idea of stopping donations. Let them petition the govt they supported for funds.

I see the ‘eat their own’ friendliness out in force here. Where a little sympathy would be nice, the sophisticated kick you while you are down.

We are all hurting - any little thing we can do to take back some of our dollars will help. Unfortunately not all of us are in a position to FULLY disengage from the economic cesspool we are in - but that doesn’t mean that baby steps wont help.
