This is a request. People are in various circumstances vis-a-vis Obamacare. There are a great many people, I know, who will refuse to go along with it, whether or nor it is "the law of the land" (Boehner). So, we still have a year or two to do what we can. Some issues are still in the courts. But, assuming that the status quo remains in place for the next year or two, some of us will face difficult decisions. I am one of them, but my decision is already made. What I need is the support of like-minded people.
Here is my story. I am a schoolteacher (private schools) who lost my job (and group health) 3 years ago because of the recession. Rather than rely on welfare, I took whatever job I could find, and in fact now work two part-time jobs, neither of which offer group health care. I have a mild pre-existing condition, but was able after many rejections from insurance companies to find an affordable catastrophic-only policy. You would think I would welcome Obamacare. I don't. I see it for what it is: an unConstitutional Democrat/Socialist power grab. Moreover, Obamacare will outlaw catastrophic-only policies like mine (so much for keeping your health care if you like it), and the one-size-fits-all policies to be offered in "exchanges" will be two or three times as expensive as the affordable policy I now have, and I cannot afford them. I have researched this. I have the same home mortgage and other expenses that I had before I lost my job, and I work from paycheck to paycheck to pay my bills. And, while I suppose I could sell my home in order to buy health insurance, has anyone tried to sell a home these days? I could try to find a third job, but good luck with that, too! I am lucky to have the two that I have now. Liberal "friends" (not for long, I fear) tell me I can get government assistance with Obamacare, but, aha! not if you make above the poverty level, and I do, just barely. And so, for not purchasing health insurance that I cannot afford, I will be called a freeloader and slapped with the penalty to be imposed under the mandate. I WILL NOT PAY IT! NEVER!
Now, in my determination not to pay the penalty, I have already started withholding LESS from my paycheck so that at tax time, I will not get a refund. That way they cannot withhold the penalty from the refund. I will owe, and I will subtract the amount of the penalty from the check I write to the IRS, and, I suppose, include a note explaining why. Will they come after me? My bank account, my house, my possessions, my dogs? Let them, but I will die a free man! Any and all advice, here, is welcome.
ObamaCare is a distraction. It does not have a suitable funding mechanism, so it will fail.
Of course, it was designed to fail. Once it does, the leftists will declare that they tried a “free market” solution to healthcare, but that it didn’t work and that they are left with no choice but to move to a single payer, government controlled system.
Should happen during the Kenyan’s second term, I would think, so don’t expend too much time and energy avoiding an Obamacare system that is nothing more than a placeholder far something far more destructive.
Yes you will lose everything unless you find a way to make public splash about being an underemployed teacher.
Support groups are always good and I hope you can form one.
I am stuck on disability for now, my body is shot, but my mind still works and I am attending college in hopes of becoming a teacher or professor. We shall see.
I wish you well
Thank you for being a real American in all respects. Real Americans have ups and downs in their lives, but they deal with them as you have. They don’t make themselves burdens on other real Americans. Real Americans stand up for what is right, rather than groveling for what they can get. I will stand with you - without in any way supporting or complying with ObamaCare. We have to hope and pray that ObamaCare will eventually be repealed, but we also have to work toward that end. Thank you for doing your part, and more.
Just do it. Don't wave a flag. Just do it.
You would be amazed at the number of stupid laws you can ignore doing that.

Yes, I can see very easily how it is designed to fail. But, do you really think it will happen that fast?
Thank you. If you come across any good ideas in the future as we all deal with this, please contact me here.
Teaching is a wonderful calling. I love kids. Teach outside of the government schools, though, if you can.
Depends on how quickly the left swings the Supreme Court (it is already majority liberal, but they need one more “sure” vote), and wins back the House.
As long as both those happen within two years, Obama Care will be allowed to fail and will be replaced with Government Care because we will be powerless to stop it.
And, yes, I do see it coming within the next four years. If we get really lucky, it might not occur until sometime in Hillary’s first term, but we haven’t exactly been lucky recently, have we?
LOL! I hope so . . . and I don’t need the psychological support. Just ideas on how to protect myself.
Why not teach inside Gov’t schools and “salvage” those kids that I can? It works either way I think.
Yeah. My despair is a great as yours. I came home today and someone in the neighborhood had stuck small Veteran’s Day flags in all the yards. I took some duct tape and placed mine on my mailbox . . . upside down.
I wouldn’t be capable. There is no administrative support. I gave up on the government schools’ efforts to reform themselves long ago.
fair enough
We the people (REAL Americans as defined in the Constitution) should somehow form an association or account to hold funds that will “bankroll” those who enlist to fight in the upcoming stuggle against O-Commie Care.
Not sure how or if it would even work against a tyrannical, oppressive govt.. But it’s worth thinking about on a large scale.
Either way our generation will get to witness history in the form of a real fight. And I am STOKED!

Did you read the essay I posted yesterday? “LAND OF THE FREE, HOME OF THE BRAVE?” If not, I am about to post it again. It will take me a few minutes, but look for it shortly. I think you might like it . . . especially in light of your comment about a “real fight.”
It makes no difference MrChips.
Pay as little as you can, stock your pantry.
For all church going Christians with no health insurance you need to check out Samaritan Ministries. It’s an alternative to healthcare where each month the members pay for other members’ medical needs which exceed $300. It’s very affordable. A family pays about $350 a month and a single person about $150. I have had a couple of “needs” payed for already, including a $10,000 kidney stone procedure.
If you’re interested their website is www.samaritanministries.org or call them and they will answer any questions and/or send you a packet of info. They are also very pro-life.
