Much was made in the closing days of the election about the GOP's "Project ORCA", a Smartphone-linked network of volunteers who would enable the party to know who had voted in real time, allowing them to target their resources on election day to people and area who had NOT yet voted or had low turnout. It was a brilliant idea, and I know for a fact that when the Dems found out about it, there was some grave concern from a number of them.
Well, here in Virginia my wife volunteered, participated in three training calls, plus online training - many hours. However, she was never contacted to receive her credentials, and was unable to join the election eve conference call (she kept getting the message that there was no meeting). Repeated calls and emails to GOP and Romney headquarters the last 2 days were not returned.
So we lose Virginia, and here was my Wife willing to spend the entire day at any polling place they sent her to help. And they ignored her. I don't know if this happened all over the state or country, I don't know if the whole thing was a bluff, but you know that good feeling you get when you are appreciated? We don't have that. We voted for Mitt, of course, but if this is the level of disorganization and neglect that the campaign showed at the end, its no wonder we lost. Does anyone else involved in ORCA have anything to report?
Funny you should mention Reince Priebus - but that is essentially my conclusion about the solution to all of this - that the RNC needs to have a role in a constant effort at voter identification. Not just for 2 frantic months once every four years, but a 24x7, 365 days a year effort to build a voter information platform. It would take a lot of $$$, but when you finally get down to having your nominee, you’re right, there is hardly enough time to get it together.
This just stings. It’s like the O.J. verdict. It doesn’t get any better with time. And when it will really hurt is when Obama either gets to refresh Justice Ginsberg’s spot on the court, or, God forbid, Justice Scalia steps down or otherwise leaves the court in the next 4 years.
Hilarious! With brains like yours, I have no doubt the US will come back....
We need to find infiltrators and have them disappear in some backwoods.
There behavior is unacceptable, uncivilized and need to be punished.

Agreed.
Except that I think the Chinese are much better organized.
Newt has written that he will be further analyzing the election — surely he knows about this by now?
Yep, and I can confirm the story.
The system was a total flop and wasted much manpower that could have been used to get out the vote using more traditional methods.
I could not get the app running until 2 pm and then only intermittently. In both emails and in an online Q&A session I asked them if they were going to let users do a trial run and check the system and the data base out and there was no reply. You dont assume tha a massive nationwide computer application and software is just going to work without any testing or useage.
The entire instruction set was a .pdf of three cell phone app screens. The app was not available until early in the morning on election day, so that was your first look at it. It would have been a failure even if the communications link worked because no one saw it until election day. I consider myself IT-savvy and I couldnt get it to work - why did they think poll watchers, who are frequently tech-illiterate retirees, would get it running?
The problem is that the people who run these campaigns are political junkies with little experience in life other than playing politics. Thats all of them, from the campaign directors to those young twenty-somethings with their political science degrees who think that they will parlay their campaign work into an influential job in the winning candidates administration.
The sad part is that half of them do win and end up running the US government and we are stuck with it and them. Think Stephanie Cutter and David Axelrod and all those Deputy Assistant Secretaries at DHS and EPA who have never had a real job in their lives.

Evidence:
Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.
1 John 3:21-24
Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who keeps Gods commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
Fixed...
Good evidence, Elsie.
