Mormonism, I believe unfortunately, cost Romney this election. Why do I say this? All the data and hard vote totals point to Evangelicals staying home. The exit polls show it in both Ohio and Virginia. My republican precinct in VA, with a CHiristian Conservative base, went from 1800 votes in 2004 and 2008 to 1500 votes yesterday.
Obama has one of the worst records in presidential history, Romney ran a solid campaign leaps and bounds ahead of McCain, who ran against hope and change, fainting, and messianic prophecies, and all he had to show for it was Indiana and North Carolina. Mormonism is the explaination.
I thought RR is a great job and ran a masterful campaign.
Unfortunately, Obama and the Dems figured out how to bring Chicago machine politics to the nation as a whole.
The important thing though is this. Obama won another term (by hook or by crook), but his policies still don't work. So those who voted for him are about to find out just how bad things can get. Too bad the rest of us are in the same boat.
Ridiculous.
I didn’t think twice about voting for Romney the Morman. Much better than voting for Obama the secret Muslim.
That was my conclusion as well. Especially when a poll said that 50% of voters believe Obama was the best candidate for the middle class.
The clueless vote won Obama the election.
A lot of Evangelicals did vote for Romney, but the fact remains that 20% less of them voted than voted in 2004. That was enough to make up the slim difference in Virginia, Florida, and Ohio.
I recently saw a video with a great statement/question.
“If you have cancer and the Dr. can cure it, do you ask his religion?” (paraphrasing)
Romney is the Dr. and he was rejected because of religion?!
Romney had the support of Billy Graham for goodness sake.
For those of you who are now gloating that the MORMAN lost I hope you enjoy the demise of the USA. You bigots who have no compassion for a people who simply worship The Lord Jesus Christ in a different way than most of us and are willing to see the end of the USA rather than vote for a Mormon, I hope you enjoy our downward slide into oblivion. I hope you enjoy the knowledge that your children and their children will have a lifestyle much lower than yours. I hope you enjoy watching your parents on their death bed because the government doesn't think the economical decision to give your parent a bypass operation would be wise. I hope you enjoy watching your parents in a wheelchair because the government won't pay for a new knee or hip because your parents are old.
I don't know how I could be more saddened by the elections results.
My hope is that it turns out that it was not evangelicals that lost the race for us. I hope it was not the Mormon haters. I have to hope that it is simply the advantage that the Main Stream Media gave to the Democrats that did it to us plus of course the 47%.
The race was basically 50% to 48%. I can guarantee you that the Main Stream Media added 3% to the 47% Moochers. Ayn Rand was right on. There might not be a John Galt canyon where we can all go and work for gold but, this election just might precipatate the breaking of the union. Let the 47%+ have it and we will start our own union.
The majority will now hold the minority in subjugation.
That is what Obama wants. He wants the workers, read white, eastern Europeans who held slaves to themselves be slaves and pay back what we took away from people of color before the civil war, reparations. That is what this is after all is reparations and Socialism all rolled into one big ball.
If you didn't vote because Mitt Romney was a Mormon I don't want to know you. You did this to me and mine and the whole country. I hope you enjoy. There were many that said witholding your vote would guarantee an Obama success, they were right. I'm more saddened that angry but I am also angry that so many people would cut their nose to spite their faces.
I have a small company. I am in my 60's. I could have taken Social Security years ago but I didn't thinking I would grow the company for my children. I am seriously considering just giving up. I'm getting ready to close up shop and retire, I'm tired of fighting a lost cause. If we can't elect someone as clean and pure as a Mitt Romney because of his religion, we will never win.
A candidate more conservative would have never carried independents or any Democrats. I think the only thing left is disolution of the country.
The "Grand Experiment" is over as far as I'm concerned, it didn't work. It was doomed to failure as soon as the majority of people abandoned God.
I imagine you mean that as a rhetorical statement and not one directed at me.
I am an evangelical and supported Romney with my vote, my energy, and my money.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. The GOP and the Romney campaign ignored evangelicals and took their vote for granted. "Where else can they go?" is the old refrain, and we found out last night: home.
That is exactly the problem. Various little religious fiefdoms are busy advocating for themselves instead of uniting to defend freedom of religion which is being taken away from us bit by bit.
We evangelicals/TEA Partiers don’t expect the Savior to return and stand for elected office. However, we do have these things called principles. I have sacrificed mine repeatedly—Holding my nose while voting for Gerald Ford, George H. W. Bush, Bob Dole, John McCain, and now, Mitt Romney—All the while being trashed by the elites in the GOP almost as much as by the DemonRATS. No more. I am now shifting my focus, and efforts, to the local and state level as change will come only from the grass-roots.
I don’t get GBTV. Is Beck really crying KL? Please give more details.
I had an interesting conversation last night with my 31 year old daughter who works at Google.
I think she laid out the predicate for success in the future if we are to ever see it. She said:
No more rich, old, white guys.
Get someone who can consistently articulate their conservative apologetics. And, have some humor.
Be smart, don’t fall into stupid rhetorical traps (like Todd Akin).
Get out in front of immigration reform and agree to something you can live with (it is too late to wait on perfection).
Use the state houses to pass voter ID to knock down fraud.
Unfortunately, I think we all hoped the tipping point was still ahead of us. I’m afraid we are already past it. Time to get our affairs in order and to be smart.
How can Evangelicals ask for (demand) ANYTHING when they gave this election to Obama wrapped in a bow by staying home on their butts or voting for a 3rd party nut?
Your complaint is against Evangelicals?
The people that vote 75 and 80% republican?
Catholics as usual, voted democrat, and the complaint is over the Evangelical religious right?
The atheists and agnostics are OVERWHELMINGLY democrat, so they naturally vote for their party, they are the religious left.
Well listen here. God holds us responsible for our actions, and for how our actions affect others. Obamacare will not be repealed, thanks to you. The war on Christians will ramp up. If you thought Obama's first term was bad, just wait and see what he has in store for us now. Free-abortion on demand will likely become the law of the land. And you are responsible for it. I condemn you, utterly and completely. God have mercy on you for what you have wrought in our country.
Your anti-Christian/anti-conservative bigotry is astounding.
Evangelicals are the conservative voting block, and you despise them.
Remove your own lefty Massachusetts Governor from your own eye, before you rant at our most conservative voting block.
I think Bill Weld comes as close as anyone, Romney said when asked whom in his party he aligned with.
I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. Im not trying to return to Reagan-Bush,
Im not a partisan politician. My hope is that, after this election, it will be the moderates of both parties who will control the Senate, not the Jesse Helmses.
If they are so conservative, how come they had no problem letting 0 win?
Actually, Evangelicals were probably Romney’s largest voting block, they voted for him by about 75%.
Which voting block is more conservative than Evangelicals in your world?
