Like all of you I am "bummed out" by the turn of events in the election. I'm still reeling from the presidential and senate defeats. And I'd like to ask advise of the freepers. I'm 62 years old and a retired veteran. I'm still working a second career and am eligible to hang it up altogether. I've been heart-sick the past few years by the direction of my country. I've kept hope alive that someday somehow the GOP would embrace winning conservative principles and "kick butt" but seems to be totally incapable of doing so. I don't know. Maybe it's time to give it up and retire overseas. I'm totally horrified over what will likely happen the next four years. Obamacare scares me to death. The fact that we now seem to have more takers that givers and roughly 50% even pays income taxes at all. I'd hoped that we'd reached the tipping point with this election but I guess not. It looks like this country is going to have to sink into the dust before people will come to their senses. May God help us!
States with better voting percentage than Texas. OK for instance. But sure zer0 will try his usual crap. If they don't mind a shooting war. Heck we may see a secession or 3 down south and out west. Hey! Perry! Where do you stand on Texas’ right to re-republicise?
it would be very interesting how the failure happens. When the confidence goes, then everything goes. People who have expected to live off their SS will find it has disappeared. Riots and anarchy to follow...
“Sarah would have won in a walk.”
Sarah was a flirt, nothing more. Most women I know had no respect for her and would not have voted for her. Get over this worship of the flirt.
“Dont get a carry permit. Youll be first on the list to have your gun confiscated.”
That’s just plain stupid. Besides, that doesn’t mean you are the first to have you gun confiscated, it means you are the first to get the chance to kill the SOBs. Seriously, you think gun confiscations doesn’t mean all out war? I, for one, won’t sit idle and watch that happen.
I am right there with ya....
We need to stop looking for Reagan. He is gone and there is a reason he was unique. There is only one of them.
Watching the returns last night, the anchors were acting like this was a sporting event with analysis the likes of which you don’t see on the superbowl.
If this is the world we are living in, we are just screwed. The rest of the world plays soccer. The folks in Russia and the Middle East are serious. Serious about the wrong stuff—but serious none the less. And they think we are weak and that we are fools.
We will see the second Carter Administration, and it will be ugly.
We need to run someone who will call the plays as he sees them. We should not have run from the 47% videos—we should have screamed about that from the roof top, but at the same time giving those 47% hope that it can and will get better.
We need to stop running candidates that voice opinions about how God can use rape for his purposes. Even a six year old knows that you can think something, but you do not have to say it.
We need to get serious about winning and serious about what our goals are. Without that vision, we will fail. Miserably. Someone has to come out and tell me and my peers that Social Security will not look the same when we get there. Someone needs to tell me and my peers (I am 52) that life will continue to be unfair. We need to cut spending, and yes, we will need to change the revenue structure and some taxes will be raised. I know its heresy—but if we cut spending for two years and show some discipline, we can afford to moderate taxes for everyone—and that means some taxes go up.
We are up against the wall. The GOP is dead. For good this time I am afraid. We need to get new leaders with vision and create a new party that will deal with the fiscal issues and leave the preaching to the preachers.
We need to deal with what is Caesar’s, and let God deal with his stuff.
“Don’t get a carry permit”
Ok, that is bad advice.
In a police state they will come to my house for my permitted guns. Even in police states they allow for long guns for hunting.
In a police state they will shoot you on the spot for having a gun in your possession without a permit.
That is really, really, bad advice.
Yep. We have become a society of takers.
goodn’mad — RFE is correct. the time when SS implodes is most likely going to hit you in your retirement years. The problem is that there is just not enough money — even if the entire fed goes into bankruptcy.
