Angry residents pelted utility crews with eggs as they tried to restore power in Bridgeport, Conn., after the mayor claimed the local power company had "shortchanged" the state's largest city as it tries to recover from superstorm Sandy.
United Illuminating workers reported eggs and other objects being thrown at them a day after Mayor Bill Finch said the utility was taking care of wealthy suburbs while his constituents suffered. The unrest caused United Illuminating to pull its workers out until the city agreed to provide police protection.

Let me get this straight. Your power is out, your cold and probably hungry too but when crews arrive to restore your power, you toss eggs and other objects at them and drive them away?
Pretty stupid I'd say!

I have friends who tell of needing police escort to repair fiber-optic lines in parts of NYC - in “normal” times.
Shoot yourself in the other foot....idiots.

After Hurricane Rita, I made sandwiches and tea for workers trying to get our power back on. It took 31 days for my house. The workers were came from Tennessee and worked 12-14 hour days. It was plum Mid-evil after about 2 weeks. They slept in tents in a baseball field with no air and mosquito’s so thick you sucked them up your nose. They were kind and worked quickly.

When Katrina hit Mississippi power was restored to a buddy's house on Sunday at 6PM, I know the time because when the crews arrived the neighborhood came out and offered the workers refreshments and even cheered when power was turned back on, I would've expected better behavior from our sophisticated cousins from the North but then again maybe not...
