When my daughter exclaimed, Mommy, a bug! I looked where she was pointing and saw the largest spider I have ever encountered outside of a pet shop. Both the spider and I knew that he would not be allowed to stay in our house. And yet, as I faced him, I found I could not take one step closer to end the standoff. My pulse quickened. I swallowed and gave myself a pep-talk. Still, fear kept me frozen in place.
Fear is powerful; it can override logical thinking and produce irrational behavior. Thankfully, Christians dont have to let fear of anythingpeople, situations, or even spidersrule our actions. We can declare, Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in [God] (Ps. 56:3).
Taking this stand against fear is consistent with the Bibles instruction to trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding (Prov. 3:5). Our own understanding may lead us to overestimate the object of our fear and underestimate Gods power. When we are afraid, we can depend on Gods understanding (Isa. 40:28) and trust in His love for us that casts out fear (1 John 4:18). The next time fear creeps into your life, dont panic. God can be trusted in the darkness.

Amy, I am also imagining you, Marissa and the rest of the Just family, sharing a day of Thanks together! (No Italian food, was there?)
Meg, I hope your back is feeling a bit better today!
I am sure you had an enjoyable time with your neice, and dinner at your daughter's!
I'm glad other's pitched in to do the dishes. That's the HARD part about Thanksgiving!
On Wednesday, my son, wife and two daughters arrived from California, and my daughter, her husband and three daughters arrived from Colorado! (She brought SIX pies from the Villiage Inn!)
On Thanksgiving, I took them all to breakfast at the Coffee Pot, where everybody got what they wanted. Then, for dinner, we all went to a lovely restaurant, and again - everybody ordered what they wanted. My son and I were the only ones to order the Traditional Turkey dinner - and was it ever GOOD! I also picked up a prepared turkey dinner at the market - so everyone could have turkey 'left-overs' the next day. They all devoured most of that on Friday! It was such a blessing to have them all here, and the girls kept the dishes done. (WHEW!)
They all LOVED Shanah, and played with her for hours!
They all headed back home yesterday. My son's family visited the Grand Canyon, before heading to CA, and my daughter's car headed home to Colorado (a twelve hour drive.) They all arrived home safely last night, and I am trying to readjust to a quiet house, today.
And, Shanah is STILL looking for everybody! She is even looking under the couch for them!
Have a BLESSED Sunday, everyone!
