Virginia is CRAWLING with Navy personnel...especially Norfolk (The Norfolk Navy Shipyard alone employs 11,000) Norfolk/Portsmouth and Northern Va are the keys for Romney to win the state.
YES!
But not VA. It was aimed at the $20 billion or so being spent to build Freedom class LCSes in WISCONSIN.
Romney already has VA... while this cements it, it really helps out George Allen, who has been blasting Kaine on the likely loss of shipbuilding jobs in Norfolk in his TV ads.
BO constantly says the military is not asking for these things and no one talks about the fact that the JCS is appointed by BO and is being told not to ask for more ships, missiles systems etc. So his entire argument is without merit or a basis.
Obama’s arrogance is impressive. Unlike in typical presidential elections, he has been clear that he intends to utterly ruin several states economies by destroying their industries, and yet he still boldly pretends that they will vote for him.
Seriously, how many states has he done this to? It is like giving them an ultimatum: surrender and be killed or just die. I don’t care which.
If you’re right then wouldn’t that indicate that Romney views the defense budget as a porkbarrel to use to win elections? Let’s promise more ships, not because we neeed them but because they’re built in swing states? Not what I’d hoped for.
Last night was a psychological debate. Obvious answers would end up losers...the real answer was actually the unspoken second response that we’re figuring out today. Obama played mainly at the first level and therefor fell for the traps.
Romney knew not to fall for any Obama traps and kept his answers general and bland. It probably earned him the presidency.
Please correct this old Marine if he’s been wrong in his assumption:
Submarine = Boat = Ship
So in a 313 “ship” Navy, it seems to me that subs are included in that number...
I am still trying to figure out how to use a “bayon” net.
It should have opened their eyes that Obama sees their ships as no more significant than horses and bayonets.
