Our White House has been residence to Unitarians, at least one likely Deist, and multiple Freemasons. Is Romneys Mormonism really any weirder?

Dude! I didn’t say a word about lc’s religious or nonreligious crusade one way or the other. I stated that the ONE post I responded to was evil...because it is. Period. And even YOU cannot defend it...unless you think it’s Christian to wish another human being dead because they don’t agree with you. That alone tells me that whoever makes such a wish in private or in public...as lc did, is not a Christian at all but a perversion of true Christianity which should shame any Christian who agrees with, or defends, it.
Do not, I repeat, do NOT include me in any of your religious or anti-religious diatribes. I am simply not interested in anything you have to say about anything. Understand?
I was responding to Old & Tired's post #68...which happened to be addressed to you...
When I'm addressing a comment by a poster (like Old & Tired), I'll often "add" in the "to" list the poster they were making that comment to...which just happened to be you.
(Please don't get "hyper" on me over a simple "loop" inclusion)
Did you grow up in a home where "disagreement" with automatically ='d serious conflict & hostility? Or what is the basis in your life for concluding expressing oneself about religious disagreements somehow automatically =s "hatred."
If you don't like their critiques, then just do what you have "prescribed" as the Rx in response: Tolerate the critiques.
Because if you rail vs. "bigotry" -- all "bigotry" is is a fanciful leftist version of "intolerance." And if you're preaching "tolerance," doesn't come across very well for you to be intolerant of those critique those who don't share beliefs.
Oh, and btw...both Jesus, who talked about false messiahs to come in the last days (see Matthew 24)...as well as the apostle Paul...who talked about "savage wolf" false shepherds who would distort the truth and ensnare the flock (see Acts 20)...indicated that yes, counterfeit spiritual leaders (some in counterfeit religious orgs) would arise.
Your argument of "This type of bigot shares responsibility for shrinking church membership in the U.S." is tantamount to complaining about authorities who remove counterfeit currency from circulation because of some lame brain thinking that it somehow "shrinks" the economy to do so...
Sorry...but counterfeits exist in ALL walks of life...And spiritually speaking, the cults...JWs, Lds, Scientology, the New Age cults, the human potential cults, are all counterfeits.
Now, while this thing is turning around..
JR has, as far as I know, stated that Romney must be elected in preference to Obama.
This is not rocket science.
Elsie, respond directly to the person that you are trying to educate, don’t use me instead, I have begged and pleaded with you to quit using me in place of the person or people that your post is actually directed at.
You should have posted that long cut and paste to AllAmericanGirl44 not to me.
You are deeply interested, that is why you jumped up and posted such an emotional, nasty post to me.
The knowledge you learned about Mormonism, made you angry and emotional, and hostile towards a fellow freeper.
On Mormon threads you will always be on a thread where Mormonism is the subject.
Everything that Romney does, he does as a Mormon leader, and with the intent of becoming God as his goal, Mitt did not even run for president without the permission of the cult leader, which he received in a private meeting in 2005.
You as an individual don’t need to be interested, but many of us are.
How do you leave the Catholic church and the Orthodox church out of your attack, both have the same position on Mormonism as all Christian denominations do. Pope John II personally ruled on Mormonism, do you share his views, or the Catholic teachings on Mormonism?
I'll renounce Mormonism as a false religion but I don't see what that has to do with Mitt's ability to execute the office. I reject Mormon baptism as an entrance into the family of Christ. I don't know specifically what JP II said but I'd imagine it was along those lines.
What difference does it make to me if Mitt is motivated by a desire to become a god? I haven't seen him motivated to do anything outrageous - he's a flip flopper but I figure that's because he's a politician, not because he's a Mormon. Mitt's not my first choice, but right now he's all we've got - what is it specifically about Mitt's Mormonism that prevents him from being a good president?
So far, I've just seen a bunch of folks pointing to all the wacky stuff Mormons believe, not specific details, e.g. a desire to impose Sharia.
I don't think Mormonism is weirder than Freemasonry. In fact, I think they have a lot in common. Neither Freemasonry nor Mormonism reflects my own faith, but that doesn't mean their adherants can't be good presidents.
What is it specifically that people are worried about with a Mormon president? That he'll ban alcohol? Or coffee? I'm not joking. I really want to know why folks are afraid to have a Mormon in the White House.
My post was asking you why you attacked Protestant Christians, Evangelicals, in your defense of Mormonism.
Why did you go after Evangelicals, and leave out Catholics and Greek Orthodox, and none Evangelical Protestants, why marginalize Christianity like that, in the defense of Mormonism?
“”How do you leave the Catholic church and the Orthodox church out of your attack, both have the same position on Mormonism as all Christian denominations do. Pope John II personally ruled on Mormonism, do you share his views, or the Catholic teachings on Mormonism?””
I left Catholics and Orthodox out because I didn't see any of them on the thread. Are there Catholics not voting for Romney specifically because he's Mormon? I'm sure there are. However, I don't know any and I know an awful lot of Catholics.
Just where do you think the word ad-MINISTRation comes from??? The words "ministry" and "service" are interchangeable...hence some countries STILL use the word "prime minister." Romans 13, one of the greatest revelational elaborations of rulers' responsibilities, also deems leaders/rulers as "ministers" (though not "ministry" in a parochial way)
When we read God's OT critiques of kings in the Old Testament, one of the faults of such rulers was when they failed to consult God on matters of import -- especially matters involving hostilities with other people groups.
Mitt Romney prays to a god who wasn't God from all eternity past; rather this "god" was a man who got the "god job" from a "council of gods." Do you mean to tell us that if a crisis occurred in the White House along the lines of the "24" TV series, you're "comfy" with Romney praying to a false god to help lift our country out of that crisis? You somehow think appealing to the ONLY ONE TRUE God is a take-it-or-leave it "option"???
When Romney prays to a foreign god, that -- ya think -- won't somehow be "translated" to extremely negative results falling upon our country???
What difference does it make to me if Mitt is motivated by a desire to become a god?
On top of that, since when is discernment "optional" in "executing the office" of THE leader of the free world???
(On this front, BOTH Romney AND Obama are clueless)
Here you have a man vulnerable -- gullible -- to deception...in what he deems as the most important area of his life...a man who believes he is a "god embryo" and as such, along with 15-20% of Lds (temple Lds) who believe the same thing...suffers from a personal identity disorder in even knowing who he is...
And you think that's all irrelevent?
You know, if you're wrong about your very own identity,, you're not likely to be "right" on the other big issues of life.
I doubt that you know everyone’s denomination here at freerepublic, just like the left, you went after the Evangelicals and left out other Protestants, Greek Orthodox, and Catholics.
You also tried the old pro-Mormon trick of portraying the Mormonism critics here as anti-Catholic, hoping to distract from Mormonism.
You seem under the impression that Christians will not speak for Christianity unless they are Evangelical, the left shares that view, but it isn’t true.
What trick? Was there a Catholic on that thread speaking out against Mormonism? The corollation between Mormon and Catholic bashing was specifically chosen because I had the impression that if it were 1960, the same folks would be talking about JFK in pretty much the same fashion. I still do have that impression.
Continuing the attack on non-Catholics in the defense of Mormonism, cute.
Trying to set Christians fighting in defense of Mormonism.
Trying to go back to more than a half century ago to defend Mormonism, all this while giving the impression that you are Catholic.
Declaring themselves as Catholic and then devoting oneself to defending Mormonism while attacking the Protestants and the Christian challenge to Mormonism is something that is common for the pro-Romney, pro-Mormon crowd, as they ignore Catholic teachings and rulings on Mormonism.
Have seen that over and over, GOP_Lady used to be the best example of that, it is a very common tool of the pro-Mormonism/anti-Protestant Christian crowd.
Um, depends on what you mean by religion. Analytically, a religion may be defined as a self-consistent set of beliefs about God and man’s relationship to him. Freemasonry has a view of God that is essentially Unitarian. Whether you are Muslim or Jewish or Christian or Hindu, all roads lead to the same destination, the Celestial Lodge.
And how does one gain admission to said lodge? Through Masonic Morality. For more details, see here:
http://www.formermasons.org/issues/freemasonrys_plan_of_salvation.php
So freemasonry has the attributes of a well defined religion. Indeed, one of the problems people have with Mormonism is that it is basically a ripoff, a variant of freemasonry repackaged for modern consumption by ol’ Joe himself. One of the evidences of this, I am told, is the secret handshake required to get past hall monitor Joe in the afterlife; it is, according to some here on FR who have seen both, identical to one of the Masonic secret handshakes. Someone should probably post that on the web. Heaven for everyone. Who needs the dusty old Gospel when a secret handshake will do?
