Police in Oklahoma say a 12-year-old Oklahoma girl used the family gun to shoot an intruder during a burglary.
Bryan County sixth grader Kendra St. Clair told ABC News she was home alone when there was a loud banging on the door, followed by glass shattering and the intruder entering the house.
Terrified, Kendra called her mom, who told her to get the gun and hide in the closet.
I said you go get the gun and you get in my closet right now and you call 911, Debra St. Klair told KFOR-TV.

I love a happy story. The good live, the bad hurt. Our founding fathers are smiling.
The only thing that would make this story perfect is when the perp sues the family of the little girl in civil court is they get a person just like me on the jury. Then we know the world was sane again.
Maybe the Bamster could hold a beer summit between the two.
In California the parents would be arrested for allowing a minor access to a firearm.
Has anyone seen any data about the gun she used? The hone looked like at least a 40 S&W or larger.
Also, note that the girl seems not to have been hearing impaired by shooting in a closet. Is it possible that hanging clothes muffled the muzzle blast/pressure wave to such an extent that she was not deafened?
I would like to think that even God was smiling on this one
She used a .40 Glock which she had never fired before. Says a lot about Glocks usability.
My only issue is that the girl had never used the pistol before. In my house firearms training starts pretty early. I would never want someone to have to use a weapon for the very first time when they are in mortal danger. Major kudos for the girl being able to pull it off. I hope they get her some range time after this.
The perfect ending to this story:
1. NRA gives her a free lifetime membership.
2. local gun range gives range time and some lessons for free.
3. Glock sends her a .40 caliber for her 18th birthday.
4. instead of shooting the perp in the arm, she blows off his johnson.
Unless the parent was a cop, and the kid killed himself, then it's all good.
Yep, looks like a dumbass...
Maybe her 21st..
Nothing wrong with using your parent’s weapon to protect yourself while home alone, however.
A small shotgun for her 18th.
I like the “family gun” reference. Sort of wholesome.
Fixed it!!!
The spirit of Annie Oakley lives. Go girl!
I have to agree with you on one point, though - I believe at least
introducing proper firearm handling early, as I wouldn't want a member
of my family to have a first experience at a time of desperation.
A New York paper would have written:
“Assailent un-appologetic after blindly shooting unarmed
victim in the dark using an assault weapon.”
