WASHINGTON (AP) -- Carlos Beltran and the never-give-up St. Louis Cardinals began their latest comeback celebration quietly, plucking cans of beer from a blue bin that was hurriedly wheeled from the home to the visiting clubhouse in the middle of the ninth inning.

Just ask the Rangers. Maybe it's a Washington 'curse'.
The Cards thinking is simple: try to make something of all 27 outs, every game.
This will be added to the depressing Washington sports lore history. Haven’t felt this bad since Clint Longley took Cowboys to a Thanksgiving day win against the Redskins - and that was 40 years ago ...

...also in Europe for a few months; but a huge, lifelong Cardinals fan. I followed it online. I had to take my wife to the airport early this morning, and it was 6-1 (Nats) when I awoke and hit the Cardinals’ website, then 6-3 as we were leaving the hotel. When I got back form the airport, the Redbirds were up 9-7 in the bottom of the 9th! Absolutely amazing! Beltran had a huge series - but how about Descalso and Kozma!
Stan the Man 9is awesome!! No WAY the coulda done it without him.
Congrats to the Cards and their fans, a really gritty team. I followed the Nats this year, and they pretty much man-handled the Nats in that series even though it went 5 games. Back end position players really came through for the Cards, an epic performance.

Yeah, tell me about a Washington curse. I’ve been a Redskins fan since 1969. Had a really good run but since Snyder took over the team went to pot - title wise - but I guess financially they are doing great. Had hope for them this year with the rookie RG3 but there’s always next year.
I felt sorry for the fans. They must have been shellshocked.
Axelrod Tweet:
@davidaxelrod: At Nats game..they came our of the gates like Joe Biden! 6-0 in the third!
LOL!
Drew Storen broke my heart!!!
If I'm the Giants watching that game I would see that the Cards didn't win it as much as the Nats beat themselves trying to sit on a lead.
The Nats were either stupid or arrogant.
Tiger fan here but I watched the game and gotta say that it was a great comeback for the Redbirds.
...still smarting from the ‘68 loss. I was in grade school and made and lost the first bet of my life ($.50 with a classmate) on the Cards when they were up 3-1.
On Thursday Justin Verlander manhandled the A’s in Oakland with a complete game shutout. In that series he matched at least 2 MLB postseason records and set one of his own. I think it was the fewest pitches (122) in a complete game shutout in a postseason championship game.
ah yes. The Washington Curse. The Texas Rangers were originally the Washington Senators. Could be...........
