The "scientific consensus" is pretty clear:
- Neanderthals lived from roughly 350,000 years ago to possibly 24,000 years ago.
- Modern humans first arose around 200,000 years ago.
- Humans and Neanderthals lived together in Europe for up to 20,000 years before Neanderthals went extinct.
- There is both physical (see Sunken Civ's post #78) and DNA analysis suggesting either limited interbreeding or common ancestors between Neanderthals and modern humans.
That is the "scientific consensus".
People who do not agree with the basics of it are not real scientists.
