Newt Gingrich will be in St. Louis on Monday fundraising for Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin, a source close to the former House speaker confirmed.
>snip<
I think Todd Akin was the choice of the people in Missouri, and Todd Akin has publicly apologized, Gingrich said. I just think people ought to be a little cautious about saying the voters of Missouri dont count.
Rick Tyler, one of Gingrichs longest serving aides and former member of Gingrichs super PAC, Winning Our Future, is now working on Akins campaign.
Currently Akin is being outspent 10 to 1. One source told ABC News that Akin booked only $50,000 in TV advertisements for next week, with only one to two stations per market and no cable. In contrast, McCaskill is running $500,000 per week in both broadcast and cable.

I have a new found respect for Akin simply because he DID decide to stay. That took an immense amount of courage, not ego. He was ridiculed, shunned and ignored by a vast majority of pubs and he’s still in there. This is the kind of guy we need in the Senate! I admit, I was one of the ones who screamed for him to leave too.
What makes you think any of that matters? That's why Akin would have to pay for ballot printing. He's not going anywhere and he'll lose.
Grow up. He’s got an R behind his name. Accorcding to the GOPe that means you should support him no mater what.
I’ve heard them argue this for decades.
Jim DeMint said his pac may give Akin some money.
I blame the GOPe for that.
She is not up by 6 in that poll according to Rasmussen's fine print internals. 4% of that poll are in the "other" category which means that they think that Akin will resign by the 25th and their dream candidate will be appointed. By the 25th that dream will hit reality and their only "other" than Claire will be Akin.
The actual Rasmussen poll is 49 -- 47 -- within 2.
That's neck and neck, especially when the GOPe is paying Rasmussen for those polls.
It is a done deal now. Handle it.
We can call them and ask them to do that: (877) 838-9388
I cannot believe how many “conservatives” are going to let the media write the narrative for them. Do you think Romney should drop out because the MSM decided the “47%” thing is a gaffe?
However, that doesn't mean that he can win this race, he can't. He will not get critical moderate, independent, and women voters, and McCaskill's $500K a week will keep the issue alive through election day. Since he has refused to leave, conservatives should support him for the good of the party and for longer term objectives. But, this race is over and will be remembered for its resemblance to other monumental foul ups like Sharon Angle and Christine O'Connor.
In his debate with her last Friday he demolished her. He came off as knowledgeable and reasoned and she as shrill and whiny. I have to believe it was worth a few points in the polls.
Will be anxiously awaiting the first Rasmussen poll and others taken post 25th of Sept.
He can win this thing. Karl Rove and the GOPe are willing to cede the seat to a Democrat rather than not get their way.
I think the only vote he will not get are the hardcore RINO votes -- the sore losers who could not intimidate him to resign and will thus withhold their money and vote in hopes that he will lose so that they can say: "na na na -- I told you he couldn't win".
Do you know any of those people???
A little party support from the GOPe’s littlest prince??? Prince Forbid.
Priebus: GOP Not Going to Play in MO with Todd Akin (No RNC Money for Akin)
It would be “very interesting” to see how stupid moves like this effect RNC fund Raising. That is the RNC’s internal statistics on fund raising.
I know it stopped my contributions several years ago.
Um, Palin told Akin to drop out not too long ago.
“I have a new found respect for Akin simply because he DID decide to stay.”I agree with you all the way.
I have thought this from the begining. He has got a spine and guts, which few have.
Unfortunately I don't live in MO so I can't help without voter fraud and there are other races I will work for that are more important to me.
I'm describing what happened and how Akin brought this on himself, and it's true.
Since he stayed in I'd urge anyone to vote for him at this point over McCaskill. I'm glad Newt is fund raising for him, at this point he's going to be the candidate. I hope he wins.
I was referring to her helping conservatives in other elections. But you’re right about she and Akin. And she was right that Steelman would have been better.
In any case, the NRSC and the RNC have not been helping conservatives get nominated.
