Shooting as a pastime is getting more and more popular every day. **snip** This is especially true with women, who are leading the curve as the fastest-growing segment of the market. But we still get reports of stories like this one, about Prayse Dangler, who was prohibited to buy a shotgun by her local Walmart staffbecause a Mossberg 930 was too much gun for a woman.
"Yesterday at Walmart I tried to buy a shotgun to keep at the house with me when Brad is gone. We live in the heart of downtown New Albany where there is a lot of foot traffic, and we believe that me having a reliable way to protect myself and our baby when Brad isn't here is just a responsible thing to do.
"Here's the kicker though. The man behind the counter looked at me in disbelief when I pointed out the beefy Mossberg 930 Tactical weapon that Brad had researched out for me and planned on taking me out shooting to get comfortable with. The man then proceeded to interrogate me about what I wanted it for and how it would be used. He said that I didn't hold it right and that I needed 'something else better suited to you.' He put it back in the case and firmly refused to sell itall because I am a petite young woman!
"He threatened me with the FBI and accused me of purchasing the gun for 'someone else'namely my husband who was with me. My husband informed him that IF he was the one that would be primarily using the gun then he would have bought it himself but it was going to be mine to keep with us and practice with, so we wanted it in my name

Correction: New Albany, Indiana. But the same holds true in Indinana, no long gun registration.
We are there now. It scares me...........................
“Note to posters: Dont fall for Hollywoods fixation upon racking the action and scaring perps. You should have the chamber already loaded...racking for response is idiotic and a FAIL.”
My view exactly. The only sound they will hear is the booms as their body explodes at various locations.
The 930 is a real sleeper in the shotgun market. It’s an American made gas operated semi that can be had for under $500.
I have seriously considered getting one of the 28” barrel walnut stocked target models as a loaner for folks I take to the clays range. (and I am a shotgun snob...) It will cycle soft 1 ounce target loads reliably.
Unless the length of pull was overly long (and being a tactical gun it may have an adjustable buttstock) a small lady who is trained even minimally in how to shoot could handle this gun with the lower recoil self-defense rounds.
The clerk said she was “holding the gun wrong” so he may have recognized that the length of pull was too much for her. But that can be easily corrected with some stock modification.
Could be, but I highly doubt that the clerks at Wally World know much about shotgun fit.
Welcome to your gender discrimination lawsuit, Walmart.
Are you a Walmart employee? You sound like a typical liberal. You bring out the insults when you disagree.
I shop elsewhere BECAUSE I hate them. Why else would I shop elsewhere if I don’t hate them. Would it make sense to you if I said “I love Walmart but I don’t shop there”?
And, since the Walmart children are lefties, that gives me a good reason to hate them.
Finally, if you want to hate a company it’s fine with me. I won’t insult you for it and it won’t bother me one bit.
I haven't stepped into a Walmart in a long, long time. I think their sparkle is diminishing.
Get ready! Here comes USS Alaska. I don’t thing he’s going to agree with you whem you use the word “gouge”.
“1. He is a $7.25 an hour store clerk.
2. It is not any of his business what you want it for
3. You should have told him to keep his opinions to himself and to sell you the gun or he would not have his $7.25 an hour job”
Well now there ya go. Somebody finally came up with the right answer. You and I are in a Vulcan mind meld.
Communism willrub off on us through free trade? I can’t really wrap my head around that one.
Must if he suspects? That’s a fluid standard if ever there was one. Unless the customer comes out and says so you can’t know. It’s not like checking IDs with booze; there’s no iron standard being ignored here. Will the ATF fine Walmart or throw the clerk in jail because a reasonable person should gave had suspicions? Is there a presumption of suspicion. That’s tyrannical, first of all, and really impossible to prove.
What on earth does having a higher price than another store have to do with gouging?
The Indiana Gun Owners website has the story too. So does The Blaze.
Guy’s an idiot mysoginist. Taught my 12 year old nephew how to shootttrap on 12 gauge. He likes the Mossberg 500 cuz it Racks!
He thinks that rocks.
That is Sam Walton and they are not lefties.
The guy running the show now gave a million bucks to Bammy
