Here's what my lying eyes are telling me here in occupied Massachusetts.
Four years ago every tenth car had an Obama sticker.
Today, I see one or two Obama stickers a day. (And one or two Romney stickers.) I spend 2 hours commuting each day.
So the Obama bumper sticker count in Massachusetts is down by AT LEAST 90%. That's telling. Enthusiasm is WAY down.
What is the bumper sticker count like elsewhere?
The 90% down trend seems pretty common. Polls show 99% of Republicans are voting for Romney, and 93% of Democrats are voting Obama. If the Dems have a low turnout, this could be a landslide.
In Alabama in 2008 I did not see a single Obama bumper sticker until after he was elected, then I saw quite a number of them. I have seen one new Obama bumper sticker this year and several Romney stickers.
In a RELATED issue: Yard Signs. Virginia. . .
On my hour-and-a-half drive into work, I see plenty of Romney signs, likewise George Allen for Senate signs.
I’ve seen ONE Tim Kaine for Senate sign, ONE Douglass for Congress sign, and ZERO Obama signs. . .
To see Obama stickers, you have to go near ASU : )
I live in L.A. Four years ago it seemed as though every other car had an Obama bumpersticker. I live in a very HEAVY Dem neighborhood. I commute on the freeways every day through the the most heavily Democrat sections of the city and county. I swear there are practically no cars with Obama bumpertickers on them like there were fours years ago. You have to be consciously looking for them to find one. I walk all over my neighborhood for part of my daily exercise. I have seen no yard signs at all. Period. We also had Obama phone banks in our area in 2008. So far none spotted this year. I am NOT saying Obama is going to lose CA. I am saying THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO ENTHUSIASM WHATSOEVER THAT I CAN VISIBLY DETECT, especially in comparison to all of the hype and outward displays of support and enthusiasm and excitement four years ago. And I live in one of the most heavily Democrat areas of the state.
I’m in NYC and see literally nothing other than one here or there.
No tv ads, no lawn signs, no bumber stickers.
Its crazy - almost like an election is not even going to happen.
Here in Cleveland, most Obama stickers I see are 08, but most were removed over the years, especially over the last two. I see a few 12 ones - usually either on a Prius or with a minority driver (or both).
But the numbers are incredibly down from 08 - probably 10% if that.
I’ve only seen one Obama yard sign, and yard signs in general are way down this election season.
Unfortunately, I see very few Romney stickers and no signs. That may be due to Leftists’ tendency to vandalize the vehicles of their opponents though. This is still a big union area - I suspect few Romney supporters would risk advertising in public, but hopefully they’ll do the right thing at the polls in private.
One of my favorite bumperstickers: Viva Minutemen!
I live in Northwest Ohio and I have seen only three BO stickers. Two of those were 2008 leftovers. I have seen only two BO signs.
I thought they were put on all of them at the factory. About half the Obama stickers I see these days are on Prius’s.
Stickers of both candidates are rare as we travel around. I do notice the cars with Obama 2012 stickers are usually driven by a stereotypical ugly lib woman.
Passing probably a hundred vehicles in a long narrow Chicago area high-end neighborhood commuter train parking lot we counted zero Obama stickers. I recall many having them four years ago.
I live in a city (Seattle) that is far left liberal. My block is far left liberal, they have d’RAT yard signs in their front yards every election year, and O’bummer yard signs were no ecception. To this date there is not a single O’bummer yard sign. I’ve only seen one O’bummer bumper sticker in the city, but there is none on our block.
I’m the only one on our block that even has a yard sign and it’s a ‘Romney/Ryan’ yard sign. I’m the only one that has a bumper sticker on my car and it reads: ROMNEY: GOD, FREEDOM & PROSPERITY. OBAMA: SOCIALISM, SLAVERY & RUIN!
Are there repercussions? I don’t know, but sometime during the night, somebody dumped a whole pile of trash including busted up furniture on my front yard that I had to clean up.
I have seen very few stickers for either side in Las Vegas. I would love to have a sticker on my car but I am afraid my car would be vandalized. So, I think that accounts largely for the low number of Romney stickers, but not for the low number of Obama stickers. I don’t know how things are in California now, but I traveled from to Southern California in July and was shocked to see very few Obama stickers. Last time around the Obamamania was endemic and stickers were everywhere.
LOL!
I live in Washington state, not too far from Tacoma. Seen very few Obama stickers compared to ‘08, but I’m sure he’ll win this state again. A couple days ago I was driving home from the grocery store and some gal had a whole row of tables set up in front of the Post Office with IMPEACH OBAMA all over them. ‘Pull over here to sign the petition’ in big letters on an sandwich board! I gave her a honk and a big thumbs up!
-— Its just never been like this before.——
It’s like a bumper sticker ghost town. Very strange. It’s not like the country is hanging by a thread this election cycle, or anything.
I’m hoping that Chick-fil-a Nation is waiting to see the whites of their eyes.
The Obama stickers are popping up around here in Madison, WI. None in Rockford, IL. The # of Obama stickers in Madison equals about 1/4 of the Recall Walker stickers from a year ago. A handful of Romney sightings on I-90, and that’s it for WI and IL.
This includes a couple of the unintentional humorous “I LOVE OBAMACARE” stickers.
Many of the Obama stickers are sharing space with “I Stand with Planned Parenthood”, “RECYCLE”, “Buy Local”, “Feingold 2010” etc.
A few ‘08 stickers are still around.
I live in Norman, Oklahoma, and OU is in the neighborhood. I have seen several Obama bumper stickers on student cars and two Obama yard signs so far in our neighborhood at what I would guess would be rental housing. No Romney signs or bumper stickers at all, anywhere, but we all know that R/R will carry the state and that the Obama voters here are likely largely composed of people who are using the election to say they are NOT to be confused with those hick Oklahomans they have to endure everyday. The saddest thing, though, is seeing an Obama sticker on a car parked at our campus Catholic church. Just one though, in a sea of sticker-less cars.
Here is Montgomery, AL it is a dractic difference from 2008. Then everyone had Obama stickers on their cars and all of Holder’s People were wearing Obama T-shirts constantly.
This year, other than a handful of fading 2008 stickers, I have seen exactly ONE Obama 2012 sticker on a vehicle, and have actually seen around 10-15 vehicles with MITT stickers one them.
re: Im in NYC and see literally nothing other than one here or there.
NYC is in the bag for Obama already. The ONE doesn’t even need to campaign there. They are trying to conserve their campaign dollars.
MontCo Maryland (DC area) — not a lot of stickers either way. Obama more than Romney, and on the “usual suspect” cars littered with asinine stickers for the most part, but nothing like in 2008.
