Man Nearly Died by Shipping Himself to Girlfriend (As a Romantic Gesture)
AsiaOne ^ | Tuesday, Sep 04, 2012

A man from Chongqing in Southern China nearly suffocated to death after a romantic gesture to his girlfriend went wrong.

Mr Hu Seng had asked his friend to tape him into a box so he could ship himself via a courier service to his girlfriend, Li Wang.

However, the romantic gesture turned into a life-threatening event for Mr Hu when the courier company mixed up the address with another delivery.

The 30-minute wait turned into a three-hour ordeal for Mr Hu.

The material of the box was reportedly too thick for him to make any breathing holes while inside and he did not want to spoil the surprise by calling for attention.

When the box arrived at Li Wang's place, his friend was poised to record the event.

However, they found Mr Hu unconscious and looking pale upon opening the package.

Subsequently, paramedics were called over to her apartment to revive him.

He admitted, "I didn't realise it would take so long."

The courier company said they would not have accepted this delivery if they had known there was a person inside.

The spokesperson said that even for animals, a special container would be used so they can breathe properly.

Actually, for me you’d need the Disapproving Deer Stare® as I have had deer drink my coffee.
I haven’t run across a dog that would drink my coffee.

Reason I mentioned it: Deer act like zombies after drinking my coffee.
And Altariel mentioned zombie dogs.
My guess was that coffee zombie dogs weren’t possible.

Unless you know something I don’t?

You must be a disembodied intellect to have lasted so long in the jury pool.

Pretty much, OTOH, they never asked me any questions...

Thank you for standing up for me. I am under quite a bit right now.... today it’s the left arm. Wish I could amputate..... pain is outrageous. Even PT was of minimal help. :-(

Elen will be 14-1/2 next month, so she can go to Driver’s Ed as soon as they announce another class. Yippee.

"... she can go to Driver’s Ed as soon as they announce another class. Yippee."

Let's see. If I jack up the main beams, and put some steel rollers under them, I could use hydraulic jacks to slowly move the house back up the hill behind me about fifty feet.

*Estimates angles and velocities*

Yeah, that should be sufficient. She won't be driving a Buick.

You might be free of the Disapproving Doberman stare, but you cannot avoid the Kitteh Stink Eye....

I didn’t know about the slobber, but I had a few dogs that did that and I just painted w/easy-care semigloss and wiped the walls down periodically. (We’re big on solidarity in this family . :) )

I’ve never had the opportunity to eat wild game. I did try octopus once, and it was like something manufactured by B.F. Goodrich.

They called in about a hunert of us, pulled 18 out for the main grilling, grilled and rejected about half of those, replaced them from the remains of the hunert, rejected about half of them, and a few more of the original cohort, stocked ‘em up to 18, winnowed, stocked up, winnowed.

Finally ended up with 12 jurors and 3 alternates and sent the rest of us home.

I never got called up.

“did try octopus once, and it was like something manufactured by B.F. Goodrich”

Reminded me of the time I ordered calimari and told my then four-year old they were Italian Onion rings.

He chowed down, ate half the basket then got a puzzled look on his face and said, “these onion rings taste like fish”.

He cares nothing for thrown balls.

That is the infamous “prelude to attack” Dobermann stare.

Prior to that, he was doing the Dobermann “stalk”.

[he was having a stare-down with his arch-enemy...one of my goats, who delights in goading him from the safety of the other side of the fence]

My friend’s Ibizans frequently steal her coffee and then act like crack heads.

Does that count?

I don’t know what’s wrong with your arm but depending, cold laser therapy or dry needling might help.

I’ve had both and was gob-smacked by how well they worked for me.
