Morning!
And I felt bad because all I have to contend with is lots of yellow feathers and massive amounts of scattered birdseed... ;oþ
I was called for jury duty several times in San Antonio. I was on a small-claims jury, man hadn’t paid the rent on his copy machine. Defendant didn’t show up, judge found for the plaintiff, let us go home.
I got a summons for jury duty, once, but my disabilities preclude me from even being called for the selection. And in 18 months, I’ll be at the age limit they set here. Luckily, we are able to respond online.
I always thought I was missing something until I spoke to my best friend a few months ago. I had found a copy of “Executioner’s Song” about Gary Gilmore, and recalled that she had been called for jury duty for his trial.
The things she told me made my hackles rise, even all these years later. She said she hadn’t even told her husband about them because she was so frightened at the time. She said there is no way she would have voted him guilty, no matter what, because she was afraid of retaliation from his attorneys.
As you say...
Best wishes for selection or non-, whichever you think would be more fun.
I hated sitting around the courthouse all day doing nothing, especially after they got so “security” conscious that you couldn’t take in a sewing project.
The Kairos reunion was sparsely attended, but those who came want more of God. We heard many testimonies about how the weekend experience from March changed lives. FOr some, it was a return to the faith, for others it was the discovery of love without limits - it set them truly free.
I tear up just seeing their faces as they glow with gratitude to Christ and talk about making amends, restoring broken relationships and forgiving those long dead........... Some still struggle with forgiving themselves for the mess they made of their lives and the lives of their loved ones and neighbors.
Such “reality” and transparency is relatively rare in the church, outside. MOre is the pity. Pray for revival - we need it.
It sounds as if your weekend was just what you needed to restore faith in youself, and your abilities to handle the things that are presented to you.
I am so proud to be counted as a friend and a FRiend! You are “estupenda!” (”Awesome” is so over-worked!)
*HUG*
Oh, I agree profoundly! We are all careful not to do anything "too much": not to love too much, suffer too much, share too much, give too much, sing too much, cry too much. But I don't remember Jesus's ever saying, "Be careful ... not too much!" He wanted all our muchness ... "Too much to bear? Give it to me!" "Too much to hold? Give it away!"
"Too much" love for God and our neighbors? Impossible! "Too much" mercy? No way!
You are so good at this stuff! You should be a teacher! LOL!
Well, coincidentally ...
James finished last year’s phonics book this morning. Now he and Pat are playing with G.I. Joes in the garage. I think James would prefer child labor to a full day of school - it’s too bad he’s not allowed to work in a mill ;-).
Sally was watching videos about soil science and found a song teaching the twelve main types of soil. I’m going to try to get guitar chords for it, and then she and Elen can play and sing!
LOL! Well, we always knew James and James were different, and some kids just get bored with the subject matter.
I used to know the main types of soil, along with coal, rocks, and a few other things that have served me in good stead, a time or two. But I would need a refresher course to put the knowledge to work today.
The girls are so talented!
The “composer” of the Soil Levels Song teaches forestry at a community college in North Carolina. I need to get Elen to go to the Forestry Club facebook page and ask about contacting the instructor.
Good idea!
I just brought a bunch of books and magazines and was good to go. Perfect justification to sit and read w/o guilt!
I recall one occasion when I ended up practicing my Spanish reading handout newspapers and bail-bondsmen’s flyer.
I’ve never been called since we moved from San Antonio in 1995. Don’t know why they liked me so much there.
It sounds to me that the reunion was right on target. And as for revival: I was the only person in church who raised my hand when our minister asked, “Who’d like to be revived?” Then again, self-awareness is a lot easier when you don’t just have little flaws—I have huge crevasses. The Creator put me here for a reason. In this position, all one can do is listen. *You* sound like a really good listener! (((Hugs)))
Do you happen to know the official name of the soil song?
Yeah, they won’t let you bring yarn and such.
They’re afraid you’ll knit an Afghan...

The Soil Order Song, by “HCCForestryProf.” “HCC” is Haywood Community College, in Nowhere, NC.
The guy has a lot of videos up that will be relevant to Envirothon, especially since he’s in the state.
