I'm afraid that the DM has not researched this story....
this ship has been uncovered a number of times, as recently as 2008, by hurricanes.
In 2008, historians discovered that parts of the ship were from post Civil War. In fact, the ship was built in 1919 and was called 'The Rachel.'.
She sank during a storm around 1930, while carrying a load of lumber.
The ship was looted of it's cargo and set afire. What is left is the skeleton that will once again be covered by sand and surf until the next hurricane.
