When you see some of the other folks there, you get real thankful real quick.
If they didn't get it all, it should show up real quick. If they did good, it should be at least 10 years before I have to worry again. Cancer victims tend to keep getting cancer for whatever reason, but a particular cancer can be killed and never return. That doesn't keep another cancer from appearing later though. You just have to stay on top of it.
My mother got cancer 3 times and was cured. She ended up dying from stroke and infection. She had colon cancer( cured), kidney cancer(cured), and finally lymphoma( remission). She only lived about 2 years after the lymphoma before her stroke, so you have to make it 5 years to be considered "cured".
