You neglect to indicate that your SEPTEMBER 30, 2009 number of 11 trillion is about 9 months AFTER Obama took office....are you some kind of troll?
Who was in charge of the purse after January of 2007?
Note the last two years, when it really exploded, was when the Rats had taken control of Congress.
I’d take a good chunk of that last $1.8 billion out since Obama took over and passed more spending bills in early 2009 but even if you do, you are right. Lyndon Baines Bush never tried to get spending under control. While he did several things right, he was a Rockefeller Republican just like his daddy when it came to spending and entitlements. There is no getting around it. And the “Republican” Congress he had until 2007 went along with it. It completely undermined the Republican message and set the stage for disaster and Obama.

Spending bills originate in congress, look at the big jump in 2008 when the dems took over. The budgets prior, while still far too much, were rather flat in comparison.
True. But in 4 years, Obama has increased the national debt by almost as much as Bush increased it in 8 years. So neither is reducing the debt, but the Dems are increasing it twice as fast.
Duh....Obama has amassed more debt in four years than Bush 43 did in eight. Wanna estimate what BO will ring up in 8 years, should we be cursed with his second term?
Bush isn’t on the ballot.
So nice try Obamabot but no sale.
Congress makes the budget.
No, they have not. Our current candidate has no plans to be any different. We had a choice during the primary season.
No they haven’t. And I don’t expect Romney to do a whole lot better. But Obama’s been running up the debt at twice the clip that Bush had. So if you’re heading towards a brick wall, do you want to be in the car doing 50 miles an hour towards it or the one doing 25?
With a 5-19-2012 sign up date...?
Check my subtraction but that sure looks like $4,898,681,252,731.51 difference to me.
I hate to quibble about a mere $1.2 Trillion or so, but...
There was a deficit but clearly 0bama didn’t do what he should have done
to fix it. HE MADE IT WORSE!
You would be better off at kos.
This is a conservative site.
>The GOP has not been fiscally responsible.
No question. Best you can say is they are the only ones who are willing to hint at the big problem which is entitlement reform. They certainly can’t broach raising taxes without getting hammered. Soon as you can get some real strength of showing among voters with an alternative that is not the Democratic party (at least todays Democratic party), give us a shout.
No they have not. But Obama topped that in less than four years.
The responses on this thread show the problem. It doesn’t matter whether moonshot925 is a “troll” or not. It doesn’t matter that Obama was worse than Bush. The fact is that Bush went on a spending binge. There is no excuse for it. Its a dodge to say this was all Congress’ doing. Don’t you remember Bush twisting arms to get Congressmen to support his Senior Drug Plan? Bush sent budgets to Congress that increased spending by irresponsible levels, period. Some conservatives want to close their eyes and pretend that its all Obama’s fault. It isn’t. His spending is insane — true — but Bush’s was bad too. I will never understand why there is this knee-jerk reaction to defend Bush on spending.
