The documentary 2016: Obamas America, which paints a bleak picture of the world should President Obama be re-elected, has been in theaters for a couple of months. But Yahoo! Movies, one of the biggest online movie listings sites, does not list its theaters or showtimes
...there are no listings for the Dinesh DSouza-directed 2016. In fact, Yahoo! Movies appears not to have the documentary listed in its database at all.
...if you search Yahoo! Movies for a smaller movie opening in a small number of theaters...yields multiple results. The same search for "2016" yields no search results, even though it has been widely discussed and covered online.
"When somebody goes to Yahoo!'s movie site and types in a film's name, typically hundreds of web search results come up yet when one searches for "2016: Obama's America" not one search result is returned," said "2016" executive producer John Sullivan. "The website for '2016: Obama's America' is generating nearly a million page views per day so it's not as though the information traffic is not out there. We look forward to Yahoo! updating its search capability so that viewers can easily find out information about ours and other popular movies."
The film's director and producer think they smell a rat.
It is particularly disturbing to see efforts to block this information from reaching the eyes and ears of the American people, DSouza said. It's really important to thwart this effort at censorship and regulating the free flow of information in this country. It is part of the American character to question and reject authority when it threatens freedom. I hope every American will reject this sad attempt and watch the movie for themselves and come to their own conclusions."

I know Moviefone has it, but you have to put in "2016 Obama" or it thinks 2016 is a zip code. Fandango.com does not list it if you search for "In Theaters" under "documentary", but if you do a search for 2016, it reluctantly lists it. It certainly does not have an illustrated square featuring the film under "In Theaters".
This is very revealing and disturbing about the Freedom of Speech and its suppression by the lib media!
Flixter has it ... no hiding at all.
I just checked Fandango and it’s right there on the first page, NEW + UPCOMING MOVIES.
That they should use the term "progressives" to describe their tyrannical views is proof of what is either total ignorance of the history of civilizations's struggles for liberty and America's truly progressive ideas of liberty, as enunciated in its Declaration of Independence and Constitution, or it is blatant semantic chicanery.
"Progressive" ideas are enslaving, not liberating. The body of ideas which "progressives" embrace set some imperfect human beings as being capable of making decisions for other likewise imperfect human beings. How does that differ from previous centuries of government-over-people arrangements?
Let the body of literature available today stand on its on. We don't need another "burning of the books" by those who want to impose their own narrow views on a formerly free people! It didn't work in the 1930's, and it won't work in America today! A longing for liberty lies deep in the hearts of individuals, implanted there by their Creator. Censors may try to stifle it, but once its voice is heard, ever so slightly, individuals respond.
Thanks for the info. Perhaps I didn’t see it when I looked at the Fandango website, but you did have to input “2016” just as I said (if you didn’t see the illustrated square), and “2016 Obama” on Moviefone to get it to appear.
I see it listed on Yahoo Movies but you are right, they do not offer showtimes. I think everyone should take a moment and write a movie review on their site telling everyone what a great movie this is.
It is ironic that some decry censorship (which in its original form is constitutional) yet promote unconstitutional censorship in the political arena and at the national level.
Movies used to go to censor boards for review by elected or appointed community leaders to decide what could be publicly shown in a community. Some conservatives are ignorant of why this is constitutional.
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
Who are “the people” of the tenth amendment? Most people today think only of individuals. However, the people are actually individuals, families and local communities.
Local communities should be able to censor through representative decision making. Their also should be no “wall of separation” forced upon local communities. The individual right of free association is predicated upon the ability to form communities of like-minded individuals.
On a day/night where box office receipts for other major movies were off a standard 25 to 40 per cent (Wednesday); 2016 box office was actually UP over Tuesday by nearly 7%...LOL! Can it pull 8 to 10 MILLION this weekend? The competition is pretty thin...
