A 360-Degree ‘Street View’ From Mars:Awesome 360 Degree Images of Mars Taken by 'Curiosity'

After seeing all the amazing imagery so far from NASAs Mars rover Curiosity, I know everyone wants to go there and take in the visual treats of Gale Crater. With the help of a 360-degree panorama you can virtually explore Curiositys landing site; sort of like a Martian version of Googles Street View.
Take a martian minute to explore the panorama at www.360pano.eu/mars
Photographer Andrew Bodrov stitched together images from Curiositys navigation cameras to create the panorama. After seeing some of the stitches of Curiositys images at NASAs website, I decided to stitch the panorama myself, Bodrov told Universe Today.
He uses PTGui panoramic stitching software from New House Internet Services BV (http://www.ptgui.com) to create the 360-degree view of the mountains and sky surrounding the car-sized rover that successfully landed on Mars on August 6th.

The images posted here are,of course, static. Once you connect to the 360 degree site camera, which can take several attempts, you will be able to pan the camera 360 degrees to your awesome delight.
My best advice is to try to connect through the Universe Today site.

The Mars Rover 360 degree camera is the third item on the navigation list on the right.

The sun doesn’t seem that much smaller than it is on earth. I wonder if you can see the earth from Mars, and what the mars moons look like in the sky.

According to the source link, the sun was photoshopped in.
Also Mt. Sharp is missing

The rovers sent a few years ago photographed the earth and moon rising. It looked a lot like Venus a Mercury does to us.

bleak? what we are seeing is the effect of global warming. The martians wanted their SUVs and big screen TVs and now we have this.

I went through the entire panorama view. It appears to show the crowd at a Joe Biden speech.

I mean, why bother sending actual analog objects so far away and at such great expense. We might just as well photo shop everything.
When the day finally does come and extra-terrestrials are ready to meet us, there won't be a photographic team taking ten thousand shots the way Life Magazine used to do it. They'll just give us their photoshop files.

So,what does that get you when you end up being the lucky one? Does SunkenCiv get an extra, extra, extra? I wonder.

But it is probably bluish, just like Mars is red. How neat that would be.

I mean, why bother sending actual analog objects so far away and at such great expense. We might just as well photo shop everything. Pointing a digital camera directly at the Sun is not good for the digital camera. Yes, they could have a sun filter on it, but the point of the exercise is to take pics of the Mars landscape, not the Sun.

No, you aren’t missing anything. The Martian landing crafts have been taking self-portraits for quite some time.

What caught my eye is all those rocks that got kicked up onto the rover. All those moving parts and all those rocks? Not good.
