The question wasn't about electing atheists. The question was about electing "non-Christians", and the vast majority of non-Christians believe in God, gods, or some form of a higher power, or at least open to the possibility. Very few non-Christians claim to be "godless" and completely reject God. I believe the only "godless" person in Congress right now is Pete Stark.
