I have a friend from Holland (Netherlands).. he showed me (never seen before) pictures of his grandfather (that was an SS), BUT he is really reluctant to show them because he doesn't want a bad image on his family (name)..
OK... he says he is now registered... BUT, he only sees my original post, nothing else.. is this something to do with ‘new members’ now?
(BTW, he says his name here is dapi something or another)
"I don't know whether you're not getting my sarcasm, or I'm not getting yours."
LOL!
Ok, he is still trying to get into here.. but he says that THAT pic was early.. he was later ‘promoted..
Read the whole thread and I’m still confused.
How is the posting of this pic going to connect to some family today? I see nothing to identify the guy. From what I can see, post all the pics you want, and if you don’t say who they are of nobody will be able to tell.
Unless one of his old buddies logs on, and that ain’t particularly likely.
I’m no expert on the subject, but as others have pointed out, I doubt that’s an SS uniform.
Future ref....etc
Good luck, and don't worry. We're all dealing with the End of the World, and Global Warming, so time is of no importance in this case. The thread won't go away unless we let it, and those of us who are interested will check back once in a while and bump the thread.
We're all here and happy to help, should you run into any obstacles.
Spot on, Sargon. The sins of the father do not rest on the innocent son. And that presumes there were sins on this father, which is not a given.
Looks more professional than the gold spray paint on the marching mumbling 0bot yoots uniforms
That fellow isn’t in the SS.
"What does your parole officer say to you every time you visit?"
All of the sarcastic remarks are pushing him away :/
I hope he will post the pictures. We definitely are interested in seeing them.
They remind us of a dark time that now seems in the distant past.
His family’s history may be our future.
There was a time when evil reigned and millions died.
That time may come again....for us.
Fracking idiots... I had seen about 30+ pics... about 15 were SS..
Because of the sarcastic remarks, he doesn’t want to release anything... it took me 6 months to get him to release anything :/
sometimes, some jerks really piss me off here :/
A few years ago, I took the woman I had been dating back to the former East Germany to visit her family. I spent some time with her father who was in a Panzer Tank crew near the Baltic Sea. On May 8 1945, after the war was over, while walking home to New Brandenberg the Russians captured him. He told me how the Russians lined up all the German POWs and had a few guys in plain clothes walk through. If they pointed at you, you were executed on the spot. Ends up they were executing the German prison guards who harmed the Russian POWs.
The Russians shipped her father back to Siberia to work on a potato farm. He told me how they butchered the Russian guard dog for Christmas dinner in 1948 so they could have some meat!
He learned Russian so well that in 1952 they sent him back to Germany as a spy as a police officer in the Stasi. It was fascinating, hearing his stories.
At one point he started to cry as his older sisters (in their late 80’s) started to sing an old German hymn. He explained that was the hymn they sang during his induction ceremony into the German Army. I never knew that Hitler sold the war to the German people as a Christian war!
I hear ya brother. I have often outwitted myself.
No problem!

I don’t think he should feel ashamed about it. A close friend of mine’s grandmother once told us about how back in Italy in the 30s you had two choices, the fascists or the communists.
Considering how much of a devout Catholic she was, and the fact that a lot of her family members decided to emigrate in the 40s, I don’t think their family were Commies.
Like other people said, what happened back then doesn’t make him guilty of anything.
Well... it's kinda like Playboy Magazine.
It's pointless and confusing without the pictures.
I suggest he LOG OFF and then LOG BACK ON to FR. See if that fixes it.
