I got out once as well, and was the one who had sense enough to realize where things were headed, weighed the advantages (none) & disadvantages (many), and got back in.

Of course this handed the other guy a victory by default, & he got to strut off as if he'd won a huge victory.

It really is best to keep eyes forward and focus on just getting from point a to point b, because there is no good outcome in road rage incidents.

When I got back into the car, the guy came right up to my window and lifted his hand to hit me. Luckily, I was already on the cell with the police. When they lectured me later, I explained that, by getting out, I was trying to keep him away from the car and attract attention from other people. They said I should’ve locked the doors, closed the windows, and sat tight. (I was blocked by two cars, but in hindsight, I guess I could’ve backed up to get away.)

BTW, it all started because another woman driver yelled an obscenity at me while driving by (small street, and I guess I didn’t move over fast enough for her royal highness). So it began as an argument between two women, and she must’ve called this guy to back her up. LOL... funny, considering this study.

I try to do nothing more these days than wave in a really friendly manner, as if I’ve recognized a long-lost best friend.

This can really, really piss people off.

;-P
