This devastating photo tells the tragic story of a family dog, shot dead by a police officer as he pursued a robbery suspect on Sunday. Monkey got caught up in the chaos of a foot pursuit along Hodges Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana as officers chased teens believed to have beaten a man in a mall parking lot before stealing his car which they then abandoned. The dog was in a back yard on the street when she heard the commotion and ran out through an open gate.

I don’t think the problem is lack of education.

It’s lack of regard for their fellow citizen.

If it were a lack of education problem, chiefs would have educated their departments *nationwide* after the FIRST such shooting was publicized.

There are far too many of these cases for the culprit to be a lack of education.

Yes, to the point he would not be getting back up again, either.

The dog *was* secured. The cop entered the dog owner’s property.

They do. But they more often get kicked by an officer.

FBI gal kicked a family cat and said they were lucky that she didn’t shoot it.

After visiting with the family of the deceased dog today our hearts are heavy for them as well as the police officer that was involved. We don’t know how this could have been avoided right now, as there are no winners in this case. A man who was bringing his parents to the movies was beaten so badly that he had to go to the hospital. Three suspects, two of whom are juveniles are in jail for a violent crime and their parents are sad. The police officer who was involved in the shooting is being scrutinized for his actions, and equally as important a family lost their beloved dog though no fault of their own.

Suspect: 19 year old black male Donnie Caldwell Leonard - address 140 Reggie Rd, Duson, LA 70529

2 black male juveniles

I live in a Police State.

For years I have been saying “coming” police state, but I have been wrong. It is here.

I have been saying we are going to be oppressed. I was wrong. We ARE oppressed. It may not be the heavy-handed oppression of communist China or the old Soviet Union, but the oppression is here, open and certain.

I have lost my nation. This is not the USA I grew up in and loved. They destroyed my nation.

Who do I get to lash out toward for destroying my nation? Who do I get to attack for destroying my nation?

...Then again, I am not a fan of 90% of today’s cops. Far too arrogant, for my tastes.

Me, either. I think they are psychologically selected for aggressiveness in their personality and a little time on the job brings out the latent arrogance.

I have long ago resolved that I want no police on my property, ever. I live on 23 acres of isolated woodlands and that makes me think I can pull it off.

Of course, if I find a dead body in my front yard, I will invite them to call, but only after securing my dogs.

I’m so sick of Americans who seem to know nothing about man’s best friend...

Americans??? I think you mean to say American police officers. What other group in this country is going around killing people's beloved pets, other than police?

“Dog on street” = “dog not secured”.

So.. you have your dog in your yard. the gate is locked. I and a couple of guys come and jump the fence and toss your dog over the fence..

Your dog goes roaming and a cop kills it.

that is your fault right?

I would tell the Cop, look over your shoulder every day of your miserable life

You're a peasant, and that would be felony threatening of a jackbooted thug law enforcement officer.

The DA would make sure you did time. After all, The Blue Gang has to stick together...

Why not shoot the crook and leave the dog alone?

Dogs aren't grease for that Great Big Law Enforcement Machine that poops out those wonderful goodies ($40 an hour jobs, retirement at 52) for the meat puppets that run it.

If you want a GREAT response time to a 911 call, tell them that you have a gun, and feel threatened enough to use it.

The cops will be there in seconds to save their meal ticket from you.

She should have secured the dog. The dog could just as well have gotten run over by a car. Sad but true.

FAIL.

And it appears you won't admit it.
