Read the "how wonderful Roberts is" articles. Still lugubrious to me. Not seeing it. Won't even bother to link to one.

Lugubrious

When the lugubrious meets the loquacious, the mournful joins the mouthy, you can be sure Lugy Beer is the house favorite! You just can't keep a good beer down.

RIGHT: After looking at my paycheck, the lugubrious look on my face told volumes.

WRONG: I hocked a lugubrious and spit on the sidewalk.

While most on the right are lugubrious
Others are hopeful, though dubious
That our voters unload
And make this whole mess explode
With an eruption reminiscent of Vesuvius

Lugubrious
Adjective
Mournful, dismal, or gloomy, especially to an exaggerated or ludicrous degree.

Let us not turn lugubrious
Over what we already knew
Could easily go either way
And embolden either crew

Now that it is another tax
It becomes a new ox to gore-
Of the words you can think of
Is there one that is hated more?

With all the endless legal bits
To be refused and rejected
It is time for us to cowboy up
And get someone sensible elected

Hope the heat wave doesn’t oppress my already lugubrious mood over the news. But I wish everyone a nice weekend, anyway.

I heard somebody use "lugubrious" on a DVD commentary this week. He used it twice.

Once was fine. Twice -- makes me think it's a word I could do without.

Maybe it's just me being opprobrious or tenebrious, but I find it creates an insalubrious environment and perhaps even conduces to lubricity.
