KISS's Paul Stanley on CNN's Carol Costello Show

Posted on 06/14/2012 11:49:34 AM PDT by Why So Serious

Sorry that I do not have a link to this. Paul Stanley was on CNN [I turned it on because I saw him on the TV in the corner of the room]. The last part of the interview Carol said to Paul that Gene Simmons has expressed his political view, and offered Paul the opportunity to chime in.

Paul's response went something like this ... "I think it is stupid for people think that just because they have a knack to record a number one song, or make a good movie that it qualifies them as some sort of expert in other areas. Just because you can sing well does not make you politically astute. You are stupid if you think it does, and others are stupid if they think that your political opinion matters just because you can sing or act. I would not sit here and pretend like my opinion matters, nor will I sit here and tell you that other people's opinions matter. It doesn't!"

Finally glad to see someone admit it!

My thoughts too! BTW - RUSH’s new album out a couple of days ago is excellent.

Usually bassists are the least known of band members.

Usually, but on the other hand: Geddy Lee, Sting, Mike Rutherford (more so for Mike + The Mechanics than Genesis, of course), Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Roger Waters, Lemmy, and Peter Cetera.

I suspect the relative rarity of bassist frontmen is that it's arguably more difficult to play bass than rhythm guitar while singing.

Okay.

Here's a list John Paul Jones, John Deacon, Cliff Williams, Ronnie Wood, Adam Clayton, Tom Hamilton, Alec Such, Randy Meisner, Tim Schmit,John Illsey, Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted, Duff McKagan, John Entwhistle, Francis Buchholz, Michael Anthony, David Brown, Ross Valory, Krist Novoselic, Rick Savage, Nikki Sixx

All these are bassists from some of the top selling bands of all time. Unless your a fan of these bands, you're not going to have a clue who they are. (Unless of course because of notoriety.)

If someone names these bands, more likely than not, people will be able to tell you the lead singers name and maybe the lead guitarist.

Then there is Sting and Paul McCartney and Geddy Lee, who are bassists AND lead singers.

Other than Paul McCartney with the Beatles, all the people I listed, were with bands that sold more records than the bands you list included.
