Kaczynski was clearly insane. A nut, but he certainly had the capacity to distinguish right from wrong. If he didn't, he wouldn't have worked so diligently to remain undetected. I do wish conservatives would stop linking him with the left. Yes, the "Who Said It? Algore Vs. Unibomber" quiz back in the 2000 campaign was fun, but there were a substantial number of passages in his manifesto that would not be out of place on FR, i.e.,

"Many leftists have an intense identification with the problems of groups that have an image of being weak (women), defeated (American Indians), repellent (homosexuals), or otherwise inferior. There are quite a few more passages beyond those that would probably resound with most conservatives. Now, I'm in no way, shape or form defending or lionizing Kaczynski. I'm simply making the case that those on our side who enjoy pointing to him as a typical enviro-leftist based on some quotes from his manifesto, need to be careful about making that generality because there's ample material in there that could be hung around the necks of the right.

The guy was a lunatic, and IMHO, should have received the needle. The right would do well to ignore him and avoid pointing him out as a distinct creature of the left.

Good observations....like when I have to remind myself when I read a headline about the ACLU and actually *agree* with their action.

Except that we're not bombing innocent people. Note that even the Father of Lies often repeats true statements &emdash; when it suits him, that is. The thing that defines a liar is that he will lie when it suits him, too.

I don't want to fry Kaczynski for what he believes. I want to fry him for what he did.
