It looked like he went toward the back of the store to pick something up from the floor. But yes, it did take him an unusually long time to count out his money.

I noticed that as well. He was moving way to much for a sober convenience store transaction.
Compare the clerk to Trayvon. He was aware of his surroundings, didn’t rock bath and forth and quickly completed the transaction.
That description conforms perfectly with Zimmerman’s initial statement to the police dispatcher about Trayvon’s behavior, “like he’s stoned or something.”
