yeccch! I used to be like that, more cream and sugar than coffee, Try drinking it black for a few days, you may actually learn to like it.
A lot of being able to drink it black has to do with the coffee itself and the water.
I drink it black at home because I use distilled water and one of the better Folgers grades, and it is delicious. Out and about I often find black coffee undrinkable because of the miserable taste.
Black is the only way I take my coffee. I love sugar but cannot stand it in coffee. The only way I take sugar in coffee is to dunk a doughnut or cookie. As for cream...yuck.
As for this study....what a pantload.
If you drink it black, it needs to be good coffee. I am blessed to have a friend who is a roaster...roastmaster? Anyway he started a coffee business recently and brings me bags of beans that I grind fresh every morning for my two daily mugs. Do a search for JBrooks coffee roasters to find him.
And once you buy a bag of beans or ground coffee, wrap it up tight and put it into a zip-loc bag. Don’t just leave it loosely closed.
I'm a big time coffee fan. I even roast it using a nice drum roaster. I still use milk and sugar, though. 1/5 milk to coffee. I think it brings out a great flavor. Yes, I'll drink it black now and then, but I enjoy it this way.
