Vitamin D is known for helping create strong bones and is a key regulator of serum calcium levels. Recent studies, however, have not offered much proof that Vitamin D supplements prevents bone fractures.

Sorry, doubting that! I take 5000 i.u. per day and no calcium (can’t tolerate it in any form) my bone density went from abnormal to normal in one year.
Not that I doubt this Ivanhoe, most science has been corrupted by money.
Vitamin D, sunshine and probiotics did the trick for me!
Prunes are supposed to work. I have my husband on 10 a day and I’ve got a whole retirement community eating them too after one of the women got a broken rib when a guy just gave her a friendly hug.
WHAT kind of Vitamin D? (It has to be D3, but this article does not say THAT!) I get tired of idiots not doing their writing/researching appropriately.
The D2 synthetic is, I believe, what is normally prescribed by doctors. my wife and I take 10k D3 daily and have had no virri at all in the 2 and half years since we started, She is a school teacher and used to bring a virus home several times a school year. She also gets much better bone density reports.

Be suspect of every study and every finding from here out.
Notice how many studies are now showing multivitamins and all sorts of supplements are either ineffective or harmful or both. Notice how many preventative tests are now "unnecessary" or harmful. Why? control control control!
The obesity epidemic? It doesn't exist. It's a made up lie to provide cover for running up the cost of food in order to once again, control the people.
Sorry for the rant but everyone needs to be aware of these attacks on our liberty.
We all will have to do our homework from here out.
Your husband and any takers in the retirement community are probably spending an inundate amount of time in the bathroom. LOL! Prunes have that natural effect. Just say’n
Actually, your body adjust pretty quickly, you just work up to it.
Already been doing that for 20 years at least, ever since the latest "study" started passing for the headline story on the nightly news.
The obesity epidemic doesn’t exist??? Have to disagree with you on that - big time.
The baby boomers are getting older and older people have always gained weight. The government statistics doesn't take age into account.
Obesity epidemic doesn’t exist? You have got to be kidding, right? I agree with a lot of what you wrote in your post, but not that. People at all levels of society are having weight problems, middle-income people are struggling to keep their weight down, and the lower middle class and below are getting HUGE. Even the kids are getting corpulent and diabetic. So, yes, it’s a serious national problem. I just don’t want the government helping us with it.
that’s because it’s MAGNESIUM that makes bones strong.
Agreed. And the point needs to be made that artificial D2 conflicts with Magnesium absorption.
Thankfully many doctors recognize Vit D3’s role in immunity and bone health and are testing blood levels. They regularly prescribe high doses initially then tell you to maintain with OTC pills.
Here’s a book concerning the need to combine Vitamin D3 supplementation with Vitamin K2 (my local Wal-Mart carries this):
Vitamin K2 and the Calcium Paradox: How a Little-Known Vitamin Could Save Your Life by Kate Rheaume-Bleue
The book is available at Amazon - I got it on Kindle.
Essentially, K2 acts in synergy with D3 and calcium to direct calcium to the bones instead of letting it end up as calcified plaque in the blood vessels.
Agree with that as well. And when you are deficient in mag, and most of us are, calcium then calcifies on your arteries, organs, tissues (breasts) and reeks havoc.
The head of visit orlando just died last night and he was a ‘exercise buff’. Well, if you are NOT supplementing with the right kind of mag, and you’re sweating alot (losing mag), you are very vulnerable to heart attack.
Fat kids were rare when I grew up...now they’re common. In fact it never fails to shock me when I see these poor kids.
