We import almost 3 trillion worth of products per year.And with the retail markup that's almost all of this consumer economy you keep praising.

The U.S. can't survive if we have to import practically all of the things we use.

We don't, but keep whining. And keep ignoring the nearly $1.5 trillion worth of stuff we exported last year. It's listed in post #81.

Retailers pay almost 3 trillion for imported products ,but that is only a small percentage of the retail price consumers pay . And that is what the stupid government calls the U.S. economy = "consumer spending" , and even government spending . that is most of your 15 trillion economy you keep praising. consumer economy that buys most of the things we use from other countries. hell even if the retail markup were only 50% then we are using 6 trillion worth of foreign stuff per year . that is too damn much.
