RAVENA -- New York State Police say they caught a man on a motorcycle doing nearly 170mph on the Thruway on Tuesday.

Troopers say spotted 25-year-old Nikkolaus McCarthy of Charleton near Ravena, gave chase, but broke it off soon after.

State Police caught up with him later in New Paltz when he ran low on gas. He was arrested and faces a slew of charges.

When he was taken into custody, McCarthy told officers he was capable of going even faster.

RAVENA -- Authorities say a 25-year-old upstate New York man has been arrested after troopers clocked him driving his motorcycle at 170 mph on the Thruway.

That was one impressive Navy ship.

I knew the Mass Pike was smooth...no potholes. When I lived in Manhattan and had the bike, it was Park Ave. for me...the smoothest road in the city.

You should be rejoicing that that speed isn’t reserved to the rich liberal elite. One of them recently got caught doing 210mph on the open road in a $1 million hypercar, the Bugatti Veyron.

I read something recently about a guy somewhere in Europe (I think it was Norway but I'm unsure) that was ticketed for doing 150mph or so.In that country speeding fines are calculated by a formula which combines speed and the driver's income. The guy was rich so he got something like a $500K fine.

Not so much here in the US.

In the case you are referring to, it was Denmark and $200K the person was fined.

However, they just wrote the government a check and left because their annual income was $11.5 million. It wasn’t that serious a fine for them.

Nice

Lots of folks here act like a 170 mph bike is a big deal

been around street legal since the Japs went 4 stroke big bore like Superbike Series in King Kenny’s day...79-80

the old KZ 1300 would likely hit 170

as would the old Honda CBX V-6

my 1980 GSR 1100-RS would blow by 170...Kunis, Yoshi, Nitrous etc

as would my 83 GPZ triple over bored to around 1264cc and with all the zoom zooms and wam wams like any cafe trick back then

she was a 9 second bike and top speed was pushing 190

old now...ride KTM 105 around my pasture..lol...my life policy precludes streetbikes...they know my surgeries

but we were hell in our day

these new bikes come out the box like that...and the suspension now is stuff we could only dream about

and I never saw anyone doing mile long wheelies on crowded freeway at 120 or so like you do now with these light front end trick bikes

fast bikes has nothing to do with the collapse of the nation

i’m 54 and folks ran more from the cops for speeding back then than now

today it’s choppers and radios in every car...very difficult

kids just do it for poor judgement or because they can...it doesn’t mean they will be socialists..all my old cafe riding buddies from the 70s and early 80s who often ran too grew into hardcore banglist righties by aged 30 without exception

actually in my day of 55 speed limit it was an act of defiance

and defy I did...proudly

back then if you were clever you could do it....especially in rural areas off interstates

not recommending it

i outran cops in Oxford MS with my girlfriend on the back..in about 10 seconds...parked the bike behind a pals house and we walked to the square

i agree on the tattoo-piercings though...and teen pregnancy...but I’m not sure it’s because they see no future...this has been going on way back thru good and bad economies

the self mutilation is a “self esteem look at me” issue I think..or maybe “cut me..my folks didn’t want me and I feel awkward”...

drug abuse has been here for 45 years..and was pervasive in my Dazed and Confused generation...the use numbers in some ways are actually down and crack has fallen way off

meth is declining slowly but what has jumped is middle aged abuse of pain killers...not question of that...it has supplanted meth in the rural south to some degree

where the youth have truly collapsed...white youth that is...is that they simply cannot digest race in an honest manner...most folks under 45 are completely assimilated by the Sameness Borg

Yep, we were surely hell in our day.

I hope we have enough spunk left for the challenges surely to come, and not long from now maybe.

Young men are going to push their machines and themselves and when they didn't have machines, they pushed their horses, and demonstrated bravery in other ways; for centuries.

At sixteen, I could get a 105 out of a '71 Honda 450. I only got caught by the police once. An alert state trooper saw I was going try to out run him, as we passed, he locked his brakes and put his car in a skid. Once he rotated 180, he was burning rubber and after my butt. He was gaining on me and with no side roads available to duck down, on that stretch of road, I knew I was caught. I pulled over and waited for him. He gave me stern lecture and a warning ticket. I was a lot more careful after that... :)

So here we have a 25 yo; 19 yo's in WWII, were piloting heavy bombers over Germany and back to England. But today, slobs who get their "Real Life" from TV, in our failing society call him a POS and want to lock him away for 10 years for something that in our day, may have cost you a $200 dollar fine (admittedly a lot back then) at most.

What's happening to us? I'll tell you, we've become a land of fat, dumbed downed, drugged up(prescription or otherwise) zombies, where "men" are ordered around by their girlfriends and wives like little boys. And if you step out of line in our zero tolerance for anything manly (speeding, guns, knives, speaking our mind, etc) you have your life ruined by a society that has more people in prison than China with a population of two billion.

The cops in this case, I read, backed off. That was the right thing to do. I applaud them. Below is a video of a real POS and who actually got is due I hear, if you can believe it; ten years and he deserves every day of it for his disregard for the life of a fellow human being.

This is what we've turned into:

“i agree on the tattoo-piercings though...and teen pregnancy...but I’m not sure it’s because they see no future...this has been going on way back thru good and bad economies”

The rates were different before; anyone who gets a tattoo on their face/neck has no intention of seriously generating an income (someone will list exceptions to this, but what kind of work can such people do effectively?).

“where the youth have truly collapsed...white youth that is...is that they simply cannot digest race in an honest manner”

I think they are becoming more aware as they age and see themselves shut out from work or school because they are white. In my town the NAACP successfully fought a residency requirement for police officers, while literally next door in Newark NJ they have such a requirement that effectively shuts out our young people from those jobs. Also, they cannot fail to see the hatred blacks have for whites, and react accordingly; the only reason for whites in my town to drive into Newark is to buy drugs or prostitutes. The two towns are separated by a river but worlds apart.

I used to drive anything that anyone would let me drive, and I drove it FAST. I’ve always loved speed.

Just in the last week I’ve learned that, in Portland, forget meth...it’s very easy to get heroin, Portland is second only to Seattle with hipsters, don’t even get me started on piercings, tattoos and occupiers, and Governor Kitzhaber wants to give illegals driver’s licenses.

Re: illegals having driver’s licenses, we’ve been there and done that. There was a time when it was legal for them to have driver’s licenses because *cough* they needed them to get insurance. *cough* Then we were declared a national security risk because illegals from all over the country were coming here to get them. Of course, this was passed in a prior two term administration...Kitzhaber’s. lol

I can’t wait to go home, even if it’s part time..
