Mostly agreed. Esp since kids don’t pick what they eat.
The only relevance - and it’s admittedly small - is that this highlights how disconnected his upbringing was from American culture. And in a way most Amerucans instinctively understand. Even dumb one (ie, some blue collar donks).

It was a response to Romney's dog story. The left kept mocking Romney, saying he's unfriendly to dog lovers. The Obama-ate-dog story is the perfect answer to that. While it's true in
other cultures eating dog meat is not uncommon, the man's best friend status is what Americans are familiar with. Eating best friend's meat is not something they fond of.
Sure enough, the msm cannot make fun of Romney's dog story anymore without bringing up Obama's dog story.

Agreed - the purpose this whole dog eating controversy serves is to expose what a WEIRD and abnormal past this guy has compared to normal Americans.
It makes me wonder who the heck he is.
