Star Trek Convention Heads for London with All Five Captains on Board

STAR TREK brings life Jim, but not as we know it, to London this October in the form of a convention featuring all five captains – including 81-year-old William Shatner - of the long-running TV series, the first time the quintet has appeared on stage together.

Destination Star Trek London, as the live event is to be known, boldly goes to the Excel exhibition centre between the 19 and 21 October and is the first Star Trek convention in London for ten years. Its website launches today.

"We are going to make this really interactive," said Rob Nathan, one of the show’s organisers.

"There are going to be stunt displays, we are going to recreate some sets and get some original sets. People will be able to sit on the Starship bridge with members of the cast.

"It's going to be an absolute pilgrimage for Star Trek fans."

Up to 15,000 Star Trek fans are expected to beam down to Destination Star Trek, which will feature plenty of other cast members from the five series, as well as the captains.

"The Star Trek fan base in the UK is one of the biggest in the world, and it has waited a long time for the convention to return, so we wanted to make sure we did it right," said Liz Kalodner of CBS Consumer Products, which owns the Star Trek TV franchise.

Those five captains are:

William Shatner, Captain Kirk in the original series starting back in 1966; English skipper Sir Patrick Stewart, who played Captain Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation from 1987–94; Avery Brooks, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Commander Sisko between 1993 and 1999; Kate Mulgrew, Captain Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager from 1995 to 2001 and Scott Bakula, Captain Archer in Star Trek: Enterprise from 2001 to 05.

Tickets for Destination Star Trek London go on sale on 30 April.

Star Trek is indirectly related to the election of Barack Obama.

wow! The Shat is in his 80’s? God bless him.

Shatner made a great little documentary in 2011 interviewing all 4 television captains, and including Chris Pine from the 2009 film, who did a great job honoring the 60’s Captain Kirk swagger created by Shatner. Shatner is a good, fun and funny interviewer.

The film is called “the Captains” and it's available on Netflix.

I blame Seven-Of-Nine. Resistance was futile.

Pike is still on Talos IV with Vina, where they enjoy the illusion of perfect health together.

Shatner on SNL was one of the funniest, self-effacing bits I can recall!

I saw a Star Trekker with a phaser in his hand
Walking through the halls of the Federation
He was looking for a place called Spacedock West
Gonna get a big cache of tricorders

Aaoooooo!
Star Trekkers of London!
Aaoooooo! (Repeat)

If you hear him beamin’ in through your bulkheads
Better stun him right away
Two klingons got decapitated last night
Star Trekkers of London again

Asoooooo!
Star Trekkers of London!
Aaoooooo! (Repeat)

Well, I saw Bill Shatner walking with Nimoy
Doing the Star Trekkers of London
Well, I saw Bill Shatner walking with Nimoy
Doing the Star Trekkers of London
I saw a Bill Shatner drinking a pina colada at Ten Foward
And his toupee was perfect

Asoooooo!
Star Trekkers of London!
Aaoooooo! (Repeat)
