Best coffee I've ever had was at an all-night greasy spoon in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Cook / owner was a former Navy Guy. I asked him what his secret was, and he said "I never wash the pot".

Jeez, that was good coffee. Strong enough to dissolve the spoon, but it still tasted great.

lol, One of my best customers was an old Navy Captain. He liked strong, but good coffee. He definitely liked my coffee better than any he had in the navy. However, being 200 miles from the ocean, the coffee drinking scenery wasn’t so good.

I had a lot of military regulars. Two are now local police detectives. One loved to talk about having coffee made with water from the Euphrates. Shortly after finishing the pot, a body floated by. He would say that coffee was better than any at McDonalds. :-)

I believe it. My stepdad (retired Navy Chief) said that when they were out on a cruise, they never washed the pot, but just as they were coming into port, they'd throw the pot overboard. :-)
