In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

Etymology:

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
We didn’t have a big reception with a band so no dance after the wedding, but the first song we danced to was What I Like About You!
Our wedding song was EAT THAT RAT by The Ramones. I could have danced all night.
Yes fox has it on their website. Looks pretty non-responsive to me.
Gonna have to YouTube that one! Can’t recall if I’ve heard it
Truthful news about anything
Moves at a chelonian walk
But a few good laughs can be had
When the ‘rats continue to talk
Reid says a smile from TSA goons
As they proceed to grope your “junk”
Would have us all okay with being
Felt up by some airport punk
And Houston’s Silly Jackson Lee
Insists everyone will gain-
She’s channeling Japanese “officials”-
Who say build a bullet train
When I heard about Lee and her proposed train to nowhere, for some reason a half-remembered Kingston Trio song called The MTA song or something like that from my childhood came to mind-
“Let me tell you the story
Of a man named Charlie
On a tragic and fateful day
He put ten cents in his pocket,
Kissed his wife and family
Went to ride on the MTA
Did he ever return,
No he never returned
And his fate is still unlearned
He may ride forever
Beneath the streets of Boston
He’s the man who never returned.”
Music at weddings-cool. My first husband and I had a trio that sang “The Wedding Song” and “Greensleves”(he wanted that, I don’t know why...) before the ceremony, and the first dance at the reception was “Magic Carpet Ride” by Steppenwolf. The band played mostly rock. but some country. And my new in-laws got into the mother of all battles on the way from the reception to their truck because he was really drunk...
MrT5 and I did not go with all that at our wedding-just the music that was played by the DJ at the reception-all rock and country stuff.
The first dance at my daughter’s reception was “Loveshack”.
Grrr! “Greensleeves”
A+ for you!
I had forgotten that tidbit - thanks!
Thank you!
