So many (Ryan, Rubio, GHWB, etc) have come forward recently to endorse Romney to be the standard-bearer for the GOP. But curiously missing is GWB...
Secondly, Bill Clinton has said very recently that he will soon hold fund-raisers and even stump? for Obama.
So where is 43 at - and very recently at that?
Pro-Romney forces have said that it is time to quickly rally around the front-runner (Romney). If so, then what better way than for perhaps Romney, Ryan, Rubio, etc, to get or seek Bush 43 to quickly endorse Romney, stump for him and hold fund-raisers for Romney?
I mean, on April 3, the only state that matters is Wisconsin, as Romney will not win the bluest-of-blue Maryland in the general election.
And later in April, even if Romney wins New York and Rhode Island and others on that day, he doesn't have a prayer of taking these states from Obama. They are beyond bluest-of-blue. Pennsylvania is another matter though. That state can be more easily won by either Romney or Santorum in the general election than the other primary states like New York, Maryland, Rhode Island and others at stake in April.
Come to think of it, many states that Romney has won so far in the GOP primary race will not flip to the GOP in the general election.
So what is the big deal about Romney being half-way to 1144? It would seem then that Romney needs GWB, and quickly, right?
What say you?
GWB would be cannon fodder for the Democrats. GWB is playing his card properly.
No one wants GW Bush’s endorsement right now. His name is still mud. People still blame him more than Obama for the crappy economy. Sorry, the fact that Romney doesn’t want an endorsement that will only be used against in him in the general election is smart politics. Besides, GW Bush has said many times he is staying out of politics for now.
A Gallup poll found that only 35% of Romney supporters are “enthusiastic” about Romney, while 19% said that they would stay home or vote for Obama.
So, does Romney need Bush Jr’s endorsement to come quickly, right after the April 3 primary states, in which I believe that Romney gets Maryland and D.C.?
No way. Romney would vigorously defend GWB, as would the rest of the GOP. Romney supports Bush’s policies. I did, too, except for the policies that expanded the size of the federal gov’t.
So, you actually help my argument. It would unite the GOP in defense of GWB, and thus by extension Romney.
So... Romney, Rubio, Ryan and others need to get GWB to quickly endorse Romney.
W shouldn’t endorse anyone at this stage.
I can’t think of a more worthless endorsement than that of GWB.
I take no pride in making that statement.
While GWB was for the most part a disappointment as president, he is a good and decent man.
I regret that Americans are so freaking stupid as to still think Bush is somehow responsible for the state of the economy, and that they were stupider still to elect Barack freaking Hussein Obama. What a disgrace.
Serious voters never give a flip about endorsements nor the manipulation they were designed to create.
Sure they want GWB’s endorsement. As I said right before this, Romney would vigorously defend GWB as would the rest of the GOP, thus uniting the party behind GWB, and by extension, Romney.
And Romney is more into principle, not “smart politics” right? And “smart” in the present context is such a subjective word in this matter, too. It is in the eye of the beholder.
Kind of convenient for GWB to stay out of this... Romney needs his high-power endorsement to wrap this up quickly. That is what they say they want to do, right? Wrap it up quickly?
Most of the GOP supports GWB, right?
Ryan, Rubio, Bush 41 and others have rallied around Romney - and Bill Clinton is going to be holding fundraisers for Obama...
At the least, GWB can (like Bill Clinton) soon hold fundraisers for Romney, too.
“W shouldnt endorse anyone at this stage.”
I think he should endorse 0bama.
From the Republican nominee’s standpoint, a GW Bush endorsement too toxic for this election. Bush would become the issue again. I am sure Bush would endorse the Republican nominee if it would help him in the general but he is smart enough to know his endorsement would be a liabilty in the general.
Sure he should.
GWB is a conservative, right?
Romney is courting conservative voters in the primaries, too, right?
Any attack on GWB would rally the GOP around GWB, and thus by extension, Romney, were Romney to get GWB’s endorsement just right after the April 3 primary.
Romney and others say that they want to wrap this up quickly. And Romney supports GWB, too.
Bush’s dad endorsed Romney... Why can’t GWB, so as to wrap this up quickly?
Strongarm? LOL!! W doesn't have to play the GOP E games any longer - the others have been because they are concerned for their career$ and being part of the good old boys club.
Rubio, Ryan & the other COMPROMISERS - LOVERS of a PRO HOMO, PRO ABORTION, anti-traditional marriage, anti gun, appointing liberal judges and socialistic healthcare. They are scum - NOTHING republican about them! NOTHING PATRIOTIC about them.
But Bush would be the arch-conservative of all conseravatives to support Romney thus far, right? His endorsement would be the icing on the cake for Romney to wrap this up quickly. Hmmmm?
Either Romney wants to wrap this up quickly, or he doesn’t.
Either he supports Bush’s policies, or he doesn’t.
Looks like all Romney wants is mainly RINO’s to come out in support of him.
Looks like Romney has no time for conservatives...
Question:
Why would Rubio - supposedly an arch Tea Partier - support Romney?
Was Rubio lying about being pro-Tea Party?
No, they really don't. GW Bush stayed out of the 2008 campaign and his endorsement would only hurt any Republican candidate in a general election campaign this time around. His name is still mud and more voters still blame Bush for the economy than they do Obama.
Maybe he needs W to win Texas?
I say that all the so-called ‘endorsements’ are a result of campaign funds handed out by Romney in 2008 and 2010. Disgusting.
George W. Bush was and is a decent man and a patriot. He will do the honorable thing and wait for the people to select a nominee.
He is probably looking back and reflecting how he placed too much trust in people like Karl Rove and the GOP wimps in Congress. Stay silent W. or endorse Newt - the only adult in the room.
That’s something YOU have to ask yourself! Some will be whatever, go where ever, support whoever is BEST for THEM!!
Does a politician lie? How sweet and naive you are!
