Drudge has two links to stories about Melia spring breaking in Mexico, but as of 8 pm EST one links to "Page Not Found", the other to a totally unrelated story. A Google search of news for "Melia Mexico" returns a variety of news story links, all of which return simliar 404 page not found or totally unrelated story results. The only actual link I found still working was for the Edmonton News.
Need further proof our news is being scrubbed?
At least one version of this story was pulled by the Moderators here in FreeRepublic, apparently because we should leave the children alone.
There were some comments on Malia’s sour expression, but for the most part the point was that Obama is sending one of his kids on vacation with 25 SS agents, and who knows how many planes, cars, and all the rest of that gear, for who knows how many millions of dollars?
This was not an attack on Malia, but on the Imperial Obamas, who bankrupt the country while spending all their time on expensive vacations.
I didn’t see the thread while it was being pulled, but if someone posted something obnoxious, it would seem as if it would have been sufficient just to remove that post. This is, after all, news.
Seriously, should our president’s teen be going with her friends to a country that specializes in kidnapping? Isn’t it a wasteful use of 25 agents? Couldn’t the little thing go to palm beach or palm springs?
The child’s name is Malia and I’m not sure a school trip is really newsworthy.
What sparked my interest in this is that it is such transparent evidence that our media are being pressured to scrub stories the party ruling class has issues with.

Don’t know about that but “Melia, Mexico” sounds like a party town.
Of course it is newsworthy. I’d love to send my children to Mexico with SS protection. As it is, we won’t let them go because it is deemed too dangerous for Americans.
25 Secret Service agents is not a normal number to send with one member of the president’s family. But we are paying for the whole group of children to have protection. It must be nice to be among the 1% and to be in MAO’s class.
I apologized earlier for mis-spelling Malia’s name. The trip is newsworthy with there being so much news coverage of rampant cartel-related violence in Mexico.
Also, in a strugglng American economy, is it too much to ask for the President’s daughter, her thirteen friends, 25 secret service agents and other entourage to at least spend that money in the U.S. in support of American businesses?
25 Secret Service Agents going along with 12 friends means a bunch of tax payer dollars and this is a concern to Free Republic.
I believe “Melia” is a chain of luxury hotels, headquartered in Spain. I’ve held up bars in Melia hotels in Baghdad and Havana, so I guess it’s not unlikely that there’d be Melia Hotels in Mexico.
I honestly I think it is for protection. After the afghan killings, i would bet there are some muzzies who would love to kill children or wives of US politicians. Even the Kenyan understands this. I think there will be payback for the afghan killings. I hope to God that doesn’t happen but there are some ticked off muzzies right now.
And we know the muzzies come up through Mexico.
Since then two threads have stayed up. Best way to keep them up is to recognize Jim's long standing dictate to leave the kids alone. One can comment plenty about cost and security without involving personal comments about Malia.
Here’s what is newsworthy, we are paying close to $5.00 for one gallon of gas. The Obamas just took their children on a ski trip less than 30 days ago, and before that christmas in hawaii, i have lost track of the vast vacation travel of this family. Obama told us that “you may not be able to take your vacation this year, sacrifices will have to be made.”. Yet, we pay his salary so that he and his family don’t have to make a single sacrifice and they don’t.
No. We need to leave the kids out of this. We can have disdain for the Marxist in chief. But we don’t need to discuss the kids spring break.
For goodness sake. We have plenty of things to complain about. There is no shortage of material with zero. So let’s move on to his new executive orders.
Melia, Cancun
Why Mexico ? There has to be a huge number of places in the US they could visit. The issue here is not the kids but their parents who think so little of this country they send their children somewhere else.
That sounds fair. I don’t have anything bad to say about a 13 year old. I am sorry she doesn’t have better parents, and I really hope and pray that she somehow develops good character in spite of them.
I know that by the time I was 13, I would have been embarrassed to death by the extravagant and wasteful spending. I hope she is starting to feel some remorse. I don’t see an ounce of remorse from her Mooching Mamma or Barack.
I agree with not attacking the kids, but their expensive tax payer paid spring break is fair game. This is misjudgment of their parents and shows neither Mooch or Barack are fit to parent or to run our nation.
Pretty sure this wasn’t supposed to be known until she was safe back at home. Anywhere is dangerous for the President’s children but of course Mexico is a third world war zone so it is beyond dangerous. I cannot believe she was allowed to go there, I bet the Secret Service tried their best to talk Obama out of this craziness. I live where people freely crossed the border for many years- generations with family in Mexico- they no longer think it is safe. There is no safe place in Mexico.
