Yeah, you’re probably right. There’s plenty to hate about Romney without bringing up his religion. The Left wing media will be more than happy to take him apart piece by piece on his religion anyway. I never thought of myself as an apostate Jew, though. I don’t mind since Jesus was one too I expect.
Nah; He came to FULFILL the Law.
Jesus appeared to be an important Jewish rebel who attempted to stir up some rebellion in the area against the Romans. The Torah gave prophecy that a man would appear to lead the Jews against their enemies, restore the Third Temple, and reunite the Jews in Israel. Unfortunately, Jesus was unable to fulfill those prophecies as he was killed in the attempt. Some Jews, totally convinced that Jesus was “the anointed one”, revised and modified some of the Jewish prophecies and created a new religion based on Judaism, but losing some of the basic tenets. From a Jewish perspective, that is clearly an apostasy.
It is very similar to the Mormon/Christian situation. LDS is clearly a Christian apostasy, but LDS see itself as a restoration of TRUE Christianity. Many fundamentalist Christians have the same thoughts about Judaism, viewing Christianity as the “replacement”.
Regarding Romney, he is a moderate at best and has plenty of positions that are antithetical to conservatives. The fear of his taking over the Executive Branch with Mormons and changing America, however, is fringe talk worthy of Art Bell and does conservatives no good in the helping to defeat.
