Kirk Cameron Sparks Controversy After Calling Homosexuality and Gay Marriage “Unnatural”

Kirk Cameron is facing a ton of backlash after he made some controversial comments against homosexuality and gay marriage last week.

In an interview with Pierce Morgan that aired on CNN last Friday (Mar 2), the actor-turned-evangelist said that he “doesn’t support the idea” of gay marriage and homosexuality, calling them both “unnatural, detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”

Asked if he would tell his children that gay marriage is a sin, Cameron answered, “I would tell my children what I believe myself and, er… I believe that marriage was defined by God, a long time ago, marriage is almost as old as dirt and was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve, one man, one woman, for life.”

He added, “I would never attempt to redefine marriage and I don’t think anyone else should either.”

In the days since his interview, Cameron has come under for his comments about homosexuality.

Among the celebrities who condemned Kirk Cameron for his remarks was actress Tracey Gold, who played his sister Carol Seaver on “Growing Pains.” She tweeted:

“I am a strong supporter of the #LGBT Community, and I believe in equal rights for all. #NOH8 #LOVE”

“Various are the pleas and arguments which men of corrupt minds frequently urge against yielding obedience to the just and holy commands of God.”

-Reverend George Whitfield

Personally I'm getting pretty damn tired of people from both sides of the aisle saying we should shut up about the "God stuff".

What’s wrong with that?

It’s difficult these days to stand firmly on faith and core values.

They will try to beat him down over this. May the Lord protect him and guide him.

It's not a disease. Diseases are things people can't control.

While I don't know what causes inclinations, actions are always a choice. Just as I can choose to not cheat on my longtime girlfriend by sleeping with the pretty redhead I met at the bar, a gay guy can choose not to be an effeminate catty fairy or blank another guy's blank. Those are choices with individuals make. Calling it a disease is a copout.

Mike Malloy saying on his radio program on Friday how happy he is that 36+ people died in those horrible tornadoes.

It really bothers the left to see the tornado victims and their families smiling in the face of tragedy because their faith in God is unshaken. They see people who remain unbroken and will remain a threat to immorality.

It takes a particular kind of dirt bag to find glee in people dying in tornadoes. The media has NO problem bringing up Rush Limbaugh or Kirk Cameron but they are silent when someone finds joy, actual joy in other people’s heartache

Homosexuality and so-called 'gay' marriage is ... “unnatural, detrimental and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization.”

Well said Kirk. Want to piss off a conservative? ... tell a lie. Want to piss off a lib? ... tell the Truth!

Wrong.

Homosexual behavior could be considered an option, but homosexuality, i.e. homosexual orientation, is not an option. These people are wired a certain way, and they can only be rewired with extreme difficulty if at all. Could you be sexually rewired? Of course not.

Evidentally, homosexual behavior is an option for many people. I'm sure that if the incentive reached a certain magnitude, you could manage something of a resemblance to it--with a gun pointed at you, for example. There are other even more severe forms of coercion, believe it or not, as the Nazis and other monsters and sadists have proven.

But homosexual orientation is involuntary. These people cannot change the way they are wired. Could you change the way you are sexually wired? Obviously not. Regardless of the incentive.

Furthermore to say that all behavior is voluntary and subject to control is absurd.

Witness Tourette's syndrome. Obsessive-compulsive disorders. Et al.

I agree completely that homosexuality is “abnormal” (simply speaking procreation through heterosexuality being required to carry on the species) but I do not believe it is a “choice”. If it is tell me specifically when you made the decision to be a heterosexual? I know too many people who are gay whose lives are wrecks because of their homosexuality. The one common thing they say is “I would never have chosen this.”

There may be some people who have a tendency toward same sex attraction. However, that does not mean they have to give in to it. I have known many men with some effeminate traits that are happily married. People are born with all kinds of sinful tendencies toward stealing, alcoholism, anger, etc...that does not mean they have to indulge in those behaviors. I recently watched a testimonial of a former homosexual who made the discovery that the opposite of homosexuality was not heterosexuality. Rather, it was holiness.

Asked if he would tell his children that gay marriage is a sin,
...........................................................

Not only yes, but hell yes.

The Bible says it is an abomination, why would I tell my children anything else?

It isn’t only a sin it’s an un natural act.

Piers Morgan is a fag or at least he should be since he adores them so much.

I'm not referring to inclination as a choice. Biology effects inclinations. Actions however are the choice.

I can control my own behavior. I've been with the same woman for five years. I also have a thing for redheads. I can make the choice to cheat by trying to get something on the side. I can make the choice to be 'the other man' by getting involved with a married woman. I can also choose not to do so.

Inclinations sometimes lead to temptations. I do not doubt that. However we choose to act or not act on them.

The video shows Kirk calmly expressing his views.

Words applied to him have included “extreme”, “diatribe”, “incendiary”, “hateful”, etc.

The Social Left is insane.

But they’re winning.
