Ohio: Romney 37, Santorum 36, Gingrich 15, Paul 11
Romney and Santorum tied at 36 among Ohio election day voters, but Romney up 41-34 on votes in the bank
This seems like it could be a key stat- Romney up 40-23 with folks who decided in the last few days in Ohio.

Perry quit with honor...
“I think it’s people like you who constantly run him down who are giving Romney the nomination. Santorum was doing fine, surging in all the polls until all the Newt people, GOPe, and media pummeled him before MI.
And then there were none.”
Keep in mind, Santorum was involved in the pummeling of Newt Gingrich in Florida. He had no problem launching nasty attack ads or making nasty comments, insulting Newt’s character and intelligence. Can you please tell us why it is we should mourn for Santorum when he’s been involved in the same gutter politics that Newt specifically warned the conservatives not to involve themselves in? It was Newt, Cain, and Perry who were the only ones who didn’t engage in the dirty behavior. (Mind you, attacking Romney is not attacking a conservative.) Interestingly, the former duo endorsed Newt, not Santorum.
I have no desire to just put a guy up, ignore his history and platform, and then get mad because we shook the boat “when he was doing fine.” I want a candidate that represents me. I don’t want a candidate who is going to keep the status quo or preach to me, meanwhile he accomplishes nothing.
I’m also very concerned about Russia and China and their axis of evil with Iran and other countries. I don’t think that Santorum has the imagination to even think it over. If we find ourselves in WW3, how will Santorum handle it? Bomb the Iranians, but ignore the puppetmasters in Russia? Santorum voted for START II.
“If it wasnt for Newt, Santorum would have won Michigan and Washington. Thanks to Newt and his dismal 4th place win in most states, we will be stuck with Romney instead of the most principled, moral, family values candidate in 30 years. Newt knows this and is working with Romney to ensure he wins.”
But Santorum isn’t the most principled, moral, family values candidate in 30 years. In fact, my opinion of him is the exact opposite. You’re talking about Rick Santorum who endorsed Specter for both President and Senator, a guy who ran a platform on “changing” Republican culture to be specifically more tolerant of pro-abortion views. You’re talking about Rick Santorum who voted against Right to Work, who supported the Unions, and with whom I can find no significant bill or issue ever sponsored by him. In fact, in 2006 he ran on a platform of “working with Barbara Boxer to write “Open Space” legislation. I’m working with Hillary to write legislation aimed at targeting violence in video games.” He also once put in an amendment with Ted Kennedy that would have given a Catholic Church the right to take a local property belonging to a Veteran’s Group. In his book, “It Takes a Family.” Santorum wrote that liberals support individualism, and that conservatives prefer collectivism. It seems he thinks the government’s role is to promote morality and “the family,” but not necessarily to have a smaller government. He insulted what he viewed as “libertarianism,” which is THE (on most domestic issues) philosophy of the Tea Party.
But what first got me on Santorums tail was nothing of this. It was his bashing of the other conservative front runners when they were front-runners. He did this without anybody really commenting on it or noticing. He even did this after Florida when he began to surge, but none of you really cared. It’s his dishonesty and his willingness to attack other conservatives that broke the deal from stage one.
i hope u are right hoss
The point is that Santorum cannot beat Romney, he hasn't yet, but Newt has.
Don't think in terms of tactics.
At least Newt beat Romney in a primary.
I am glad Castle lost, better to have lost the seat then to have another RINO traitor.
Simply being, or having been a US Senator normally disqualifies someone from becoming president.
Senators Who Became President
To date, sixteen senators have also served as president of the United States. Only three senators, Warren G. Harding, John F. Kennedy, and Barack Obama moved directly from the U.S. Senate to the White House.

Why didn’t Santorum quit with honor after he lost New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and Nevada by huge margins? He got a bump from a bunch of endorsements by religious leaders which is the ONLY thing that’s fuelled his candidacy in the race so far. That won’t be nearly enough to win him the nomination or the presidency. He had his chance in the spotlight to win support on his own merits and utterly failed in his tongue-tied, marble-mouthed way. No surprise since after months of debates he never rose above the bottom of the barrel until the Iowa religious leader endorsement.
Even a blind hog!!
Still waiting for Santorum to actually win a primary.
When you change the rules on delegate count, you may have something to say. Otherwise, whine on, if it makes you happy.
Not being able to control your schlong dose have consequences for a Republican doesn’t it?
As well it should. Conservatism begins at home. If you’re not a conservative there, you’re not a conservative.
Perhaps, but, there is no comparison between Lincoln and Santorum.
Exactly, I don’t see Santorum intentionally starting a war between different groups of Americans.
And I don't see Santorum ever getting elected once, let alone twice, to the presidency.
That war has been done for over 150 years in case you didn't noticed. Lincoln's side won it pretty decisively. It was in all the papers.
I’m just reporting what Newt said.
