In 2008 when my wife, Gena, and I were on the campaign trail backing former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee for president, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was fighting to get former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney elected.
Just three years ago in his interview with radio host and conservative commentator Laura Ingraham, Santorum also emphatically told millions of listening Americans: If youre a conservative, if youre a Republican, there is only one place to go, and thats Mitt Romney.
Yet Santorum now admits that Romney bragged hes even more liberal than Ted Kennedy on social issues.
And the question that keeps coming to my mind now is this: How can the alternative to Romney also be a Romney supporter? (SNIP)
However, in light of the potential global clash outside our country with regimes like Iran and Syria, and the ongoing domestic assault within our country from the Obama administration, we believe America needs the best of the best veterans of political war to lead us forward.
We truly believe Newts experience, leadership, knowledge, wisdom, faith and even humility to learn from his failures (personal and public) can return America to her glory days. And he is the best man on the battlefield who is able to outwit, outplay and outlast Obama and his billion-dollar campaign machine.
(SNIP)
Its no wonder in January that Rep. Ron Paul accused Santorum of having a very liberal political record.
Im also bringing this up now because, if Santorum were to win the nomination, Obama will definitely bring this up in his campaign for the presidency.
And the question that keeps coming back to my mind about Santorum is: How can the alternative to Romney also be a Romney supporter?

Btw, the next debate is a sit-around-the-table-debate, my favorite kind.
You make is sound like it was Santorum who designed this outcome. That claim is downright moronic on your part.
You must be young and have no wisdom yet. You probably think John Wayne is an old, dead, dried up actor who doesn’t represent anything anymore. Sorry for you and your ilk.
Chuck Norris sold his soul to the devil for his rugged good looks and unparalleled martial arts ability. Shortly after the transaction was finalized, Chuck roundhouse kicked the devil in the face and took his soul back. The devil, who appreciates irony, couldn’t stay mad and admitted he should have seen it coming. They now play poker every second Wednesday of the month.
So ? Why ?
When is johns next movie???LOL?
Thanks for putting my thoughts into words Teeny
I am in Phoenix and the numbers are even between Romney and Newt - Did some phone calling yesterday for NEWT - can’t wait until the debate! Newt reminds me of Thomas Jefferson - he left Washington DC in 1794 and was pronounced the end of his political career...yet he was elected 3rd President in January 1801!
This primary season is like a Marathon.
Will HE survive?
I guess yes. Easily. Bring it on, Willard!
Frankly, I think Santorum and Romney both are men of deep faith who practice their faith in the family lives.
But in politics they play the game of business as usual.
I was reading the blog of Alaska GOP Senate candidate Mike Miller back in 2004. Miller was opposing Pro-Abortion Lisa Murkowski in the GOP primary back then. He had Sarah Palin among his supporters as well.
Miller was as Pro-Life as Rick Santorum, but who was Santorum (then No. 3 GOP man in the Senate) trying to help.
Rick Santorum flew all the way to Alaska to meet with leaders of the Alaska Right To Life to prevent them from endorsing the Pro-Life candidate (Miller) over the Pro-Abortion one (Murkowski).
In 2010, Santorum spoke about the race between GOP candidate Joe Miller of the Tea Party and RINO Murkowski as a write-in. In his Fox News commentary, Santorum said a Murkowski win as OK, because she would “vote with the Republicans.”
Santorum is more loyal to the GOP Establishment and the “Republican” label than to the Tea Party and conservative principles.
His speech making is not consistent with actions he took while in office.
Your reputation for being an extremely annoying, ankle biting Newbie Troll is shaping up quite nicely.
Keep it up.....please.
Santorum inspires very few, and we will lose if he is the nominee.
I have no say as to who the nominee is, and I'm fairly objective because of it. Santorum is Dole.
“Newt has way too much baggage to win.”
We ALL have baggage and warts.

Exactly correct. And the advantage that Gingrich has over his rivals is that he’s been in the national limelight for so long, everyone knows about his baggage already.
I think that as the nominee, Newt would be best able to keep his focus on the election and disregard the attacks that are going to come.
Any recent Arizona polls out or due out soon?
Btw..
PublicPolicyPolling @ppppolls
The first night of our polling in Arizona was pretty much a tie between Romney and Santorum
Tweet from Friday night ^
Norris hasn't done anything worthwile in a decade other than hawking crappy fitness machines in stupid informercials.
He does seem to be focusing on that much more lately. I LOVE his plan, once he gets into the White House.
So far, he is the ONLY one with a plan....instead of platitudes and sound bites.
To be fair, those machines WORK. Unlike Obama.
Chuck makes some great points but unless Newt actually starts looking like he can win, I’m voting for Santorum.
