Santorum sought to portray himself as someone who worked with Democratic colleagues to get things done.
“Too often, this is what it seems like in Washington,” narrates then-Senator Santorum over images of muscular costumed fellows beating each other. “But to get things done, you’ve got to work together.”
He continued: “I teamed up with Joe Lieberman to make college more affordable for low income families. And Barbara Boxer and I wrote a law protecting open space [Open space generally refers to undeveloped land or water area.].”
“I’m even working with Hillary Clinton to limit inappropriate material for children’s video games,” Santorum said as the wrestlers all stop for a moment, seemingly stunned, “because it makes more sense to wrestle with America’s problems than with each other. I’m Rick Santorum and I approved this message.”

Newt is taking on every major company in the country, the Republican establishment, the democrat party, the news media, liberal and Republican, anyone that is only interested only the status quo. Newt would be a great president. Go, Newt.

I know we fought the fight in hopes of Sarah, but alas, we have to move on. Sarah sees in Newt what must happen. I thought I might try to force myself to back the big government Santorum, but when my 79 y/o mother called me and said “regardless of context, the statement that contraception is bad for women just sunk his campaign”, I had to admit she was right. The left will NEVER put it in context, and will instead be “Republicans want to outlaw contraception”. And Santorum openly questioning Obama’s Christianity today may well have been the death knell. We know the truth, but any questioning of the first black President is fatal.
Of course I would love a brokered convention where Sarah could emerge, but I just don’t see it happening.
I know tensions are high about this election, but I am a realist. Newt can win. I’ve seen some Establishment pieces saying that the House/Senate are more important, as though they have written off 2012. I say if we don’t prevail in 2012, Obama will make Woodrow Wilson look like Lisa Murkowski.
Phew. Glad to get that off my chest. I had to take a break from politics for a while. Now I am ready to battle.
