I have to go with “I will always love you.” I’ve heard Dolly Parton sing it, and Roger Whittaker also did a version, but my favorite rendition is Whitney Houston’s.
Now there's a singer, with my favorite of his being Durham Town. Roger Whittaker, Vaughn Monroe and Tex Beneke comprise a short list of some of the finest male vocalists of my lifetime, each with a distinctive style.
With all due respect to Whitney Houston fans, I'd personally rank Karen Carpenter at the head of the list for female vocalists. She added a totally new dimension to Leon Russell's This Masquerade.
